Yeah, the one and only case ended badly. There might be a moral there...
Also evil people tell uncomfortable truthes, its a theme in Bufyf/Angel.
And as for the Mayor's comments in season 3. Well I doubt he was telling them this 'truth' for their own good. I suspect he was mainly trying to throw a spanner in their works as there's nothing like decent to unnerve the opposition.
As for the Mayor- it was his opinion told for whatever reason, but the fact is it resonated with both Buffy and Angel- that's what matters.
The evil trying to split up the Champions... I think I saw that in the comics, too...
True it didn't work out with the Mayor & his Wife but for all we know she didn't know anything about him being immortal.
Yeah, there are many factors we don't know that could have spoiled the relationship, not just "he was an immortal". Besides, the woman got old, senile, and apparently the Mayor took care of her till the end.
He didn't 'start' anything, there was no eloborate seduction, it was a mutual attraction between them. Vampire with a soul and slayer...
But whatever, I guess we're back to trashing ships now.
Not trashing any ship, this is a fact. Angel was old(er), he should know better. And I think he knew - if wasn't the curse, he would have stayed with her, because he loved her and
wanted a relationship, he was no Parker.
Just to be clear I have no dog in this fight, I would say exactly the same about Buffy/Angel- they at least know that they were doomed and so it ended.
If Angel knew or thought that, he shouldn't or wouldn't have started anything with Buffy. He didn't know anything about the curse, though, and that was the thing that doomed their relationship.
I would say it is, because his life is still all about Buffy, all about pleasing her - everything he does is for the love of Buffy.
I never said he was obsessed with her. I said his life is all about her.
When Spike was away from Buffy, he did well; he fought with Angel, he "too care" of Illyria (avoiding her to turn into Fred and be helpless), allied himself with Connor to save people... in S10, the fact that his life is all about being with Buffy and fight her fights I think was addressed with Dylan's visit. Spike always wanted to belong (more than Angel, who prefers to be left alone), and now he does - he has a home, he has his cats, friends and a girlfriend - as he said, "be bloody happy already, stop being afraid". But of course, he may want something more - and that's good.
