I'm wonderingif you can help me i have a friend who has really bad acne and has done since year 7, he thought that they would just leave on their own, eventually but now we are in year 12 and they are still their and he's getting really upset and blames like nearly all his problems on his spots, ok so im being overdramatic but he bames some of his problems on spots, so i was wondering does anyone know of a.) way to help firstly to get rid of present spots and b.) stopping new spots from appearing?

I don't have bad acne, but I do get the occassional blemish, but I use Aura Science's skin care line. I think it works really well and doesn't dry out my skin at all.

My boyfriends likes Proactive, but I tried it and it was really drying. I'm sure for someone with really oily skin it might be great, but not for me.

I'm the same i get the occasional spot or lil tribe of them but i use tea tree oil and they are gone in a few days but when i suggested that to him he said it didnt work

I'm not too familiar with tea tree oil, but because of the word "oil", I'd think that people with certain skintypes may not fair so well with it.

A benzoil peroxide cream would probably be beneficial for spot treatment as well, but I'm guessing a preventative program would probably be better.

"proactive" works really well. i don't know if they have it where you're from but they do have it in the US....it's amazing stuff. they only problem with it is that it dried my skin out really bad....but i do have sensitive skin....

tea tree oil is fantastic and comes in creams and stuff

its herbal and dosent have all that chemical s**t that f**ks you up and gives you face cancer 😀

I had bad acne when I was in 6th grade. My derm. gave the acutain (spelling?) and it worked really, really well! It takes 5 months to complete, but your acne goes away in the process! And it doesn't dry your skin either. Its just an orange pill.

Tea tree oil is a good natural remedy for a lot of things but if you think your friend has a real problem it may be worth advising them to see their GP. I found that I needed some serious antibiotic treatment to shift my teen acne, which was prescription only here in the UK, but if the tea tree oil works they may not need to go further (Mrs P swears by it btw)

go to a doctor...get him to prescribe some benzoyl peroxide...start off with 2.5%...and then go from there...if it's bad...just go to five if your friends' skin can handle it...i garentee...you get the right percentage...the acne will go away in 5 days...

You have to be careful with acutain because it can cause depression...

😉

Yup very serious depression. They were linking the use of Accutane with teenages suicides because doctors were not properly screening mental history before prescribing it. Also, it causes SEVERE birth defects and you have to sign a waver saying you are on birth control and if you DO somehow manage to get pregnant, you will abort the baby. My best friend has been on it for 3 years now...and it IS amazing..she has glowing skin.

For me, I swear by ProActive. LOVE it. I get it from the US. I do not have oily skin and it never dried me out..no more than any other dermatoligally prescribed acne treatments did initially. It draws everything out that's under your skin so your skin looks worse for a week or two, then...clear. My skin is perfectly clear now (oh and I'm 30 and had tried EVERYTHING else..I was so frustrated being 27 and still having acne! So I've been on ProActive ever since..it even faded old acne scars). Yes so now, my face is beautifully clear and glowing too! 😀

Am I like the only person who doesn't do anything about Acne? My mum keeps nagging about me having to take care of my personal hygeine and yadi-yade-yada! I wouldn't even know where to start should I try. She even had me go to the doctor and get this cream, but I like didn't use it regularly so it didn't work.

Anyway, I would like to get rid of it (for good)... but where do I start? (And please tell me there's a way that doesn't involve a daily routine?)

Sorry Ally - if you want to get rid of it, you have to make the effort 🙂 Either daily application of cream or taking of medicines...

Please, don't say that ever-dreaded E-word 😉 I think I'll wait some time then... 'till I find a girlfriend (one who loves me for my "inside" 😛) who then will force me to take care of it. You're married Mr. P, you know how it goes... women rule the world, don't they?

Couldn't agree more!
It may sound silly, but I find drinking lots of water helps...

I dont really drink anything but water, and I dont have any spots/acne...
I did go off water for a while, and then found myself getting more spots, so I went back to water...and hey-presto...no more spots 😀
