Why can't why use custom avatars if we host them ourselfs ???

I'd love to use this one

How can you host your own avatars? I don't really want one cos I like the ones available but just curious.
 
u put them on your website and let the forum link to them ... just like I did with my signature
 
Custom avatars are something which we have reserved for staff only.

We have a large selection of avatars to choose from and try to update them as often as we can.
 
Reserved for staff only huh ... lol

and I guess your right about the loading time!
 
Just fyi for everyone - we didn't just make that rule up for no reason. I was on another board that virtually came to a standstill for me because of the animated banners in sigs. I couldn't even scroll down the page, and I'm on a LAN. Honest, we're not just trying to be ogres! 😀
 
Well and what about not-animated custom avatars, you could make up a rule of a maximum size, that would still make sure it wouldn't take up to much loading time, right?
 
Again, custom avatars is something that is reserved for staff. However what we have done in the past is that if there is a particular picture that members would like as an avatar we will try our best to have it added when the avatar database is next updated. Although we can't promise that it will appear.
 
Hmmm, okay thanks, I'll try to find a particulate picture then ... lol!
 
Lol, Alleycat, you should become a member of staff then you can have all the custom avatars that you want!
 
I just joined 4 days ago, so it would be a little early for joining the staff, don't you think?

We've had a lot of requests in the past. However you do not ask to become staff, if we feel the need to hire another member of staff then we will have a look around to see who has been following the rules, helping other members and is online often. And then choose from the candidates we have.
 
Well I though it would work like that and I wasn't really (or really wasn't sollicitating)!
