This has most probably been said before so i'm really sorry if i am asking old questions as i'm quite new, but in series 5 when Dawn is taken hostage by Harmony and her cronies one of them is called Cyrus and kinda pathetic, anywho, he gets dusted and the end of the epsiode. The actor who plays Cyrus is our very own Tom Lenk who plays Andrew in season 6, this just seemed very un-joss-like to me, and more like a star trek kind of thing 😛

Again sorry if this has said before if not then yay new ground 🙂

Actors are often used twice in the Buffyverse.
Carlos Jacott played Ken in Anne and Richard in the Bachelor Party. Jonathan M. Woodward plays Holden in CWDP and Knox on Angel. Andy Umberger plays D'Hoffryn on Buffy and Dr. Ronald Meltzer in I Fall to Pieces. Jeff Kober plays Zackary Kralik in Helpless and Rack on Buffy.
 
And let's not forget Cecily(Spike's flashback) is the same person who plays Halfrek.But so far Tom Lenk has made the most of his double role status in the Buffy verse. Because Andrew Friggin rocks!

that's because halfrek and cecily are the same person.
buffy's birthday(season 7):halfrek(demon face) looks at spike and says:''william?''...i think cecily=halfrek
 
I think that your'e right. Joss wouldn't usually use the same actor for two different characters who are so easily recognized. However, i think that he was just so great that they wanted him back.

i thought that when i was watching that episodew the other day. but i wasnt really sure but now that other people think so im begining to think that it might be. 😀
 
yea spike fans like my self would never forget cecily so it would be hard to double cast her without people noticing. I'm really surprised they double casted tom tho, b/c he plays sucha huge role as andrew!thx for giving us the info, I never realized that
 
I don't think that when the same actress that was cast for Cecily was cast for Halfrek, Joss knew right away. They must've only figured it out later.

As for Cyrus/Andrew, I think that David Grossman and David Fury only figured it out when they did the "Real Me" commentary. It sure sounds like it. Does Joss really know exactly what he's doing?
 
Alot of the same Actors get used for multiple characters, I think Buffy pretty much kills the same generic vamp at the begginning of every ep, heheh just kidding, But if you ever pay attention alot of the people who arent supposed to mean much, get used over and over again. It's common in alot of shows, television studios usually have contracts with actors, (well that was majorly profound). Ok, what I'm tryin to say is, Most of us go to our Job's everyday. The same is for Actors, In television or movies, some people collect a weekly paycheck, or what have you, and there employer is the television studio, they get called on to be random meaningless characters Or in some cases Big Important characters.

For Instance, Rob Lowe: Everything he has been in Since the Early 90's, has been either shown on, or Produced by NBC (ie Tommy Boy, Waynes Word, West Wing ect ect.) I'm sure he is cast for his abilities as an actor But he would also have a contract with NBC Studio's to do X amount of things

I just noticed the Tom Lenk double character when I watched Real Me today on FX. I think that the Halfrek/Cecily thing was definitely on purpose, I just wish that they had had time to develop it into a storyline of some sort.
