I couldn't find the thread for this, so...

I just wanted to say I absolutely adored Andrew in this episode, with his enthusiasm at seeing Spike, the Lord of the Rings references, his calling Buffy 'the Vampyre Slayer extraordinaire' and Willow her 'lesbian witch' who made with the 'beaucoup de magie', his tasting a penny and his standing up against Angel at the end.

Yeah, that's pretty much all I wanted to say...

Oh, and his being 82% more manly 😀

I'm currently rewatching this episode and suddenly remembered something.
In BTVS S5 Dawn was visiting Spike, who told her a scary story about a family he once killed. There was a little girl (the daughter) hiding somewhere in the house. He could smell and of course find her. At this point Buffy came in and interrupted them. Dawn demanded to hear the rest of the story. Spike of course made up something like "When I found her, I took her to another nice family, where she was safe and happy ever after" to please Buffy. We all know, what the truth might have been, tho.
So... Dana's story remarkably matches this... Although in the end we find out, that Spike wasn't Dana's tormentor. But I just found it interesting and wanted to share. Do you think it was some kind of karma? Spike being tortured by Dana for what he did to another random family.

He says as much at the end of the Ep; how he can't hold it against her; just because hers was one of the families he didn't kill.

Amazingly, what Spike said about blood tastes like a penny.... it's true! But it's also true with every coin.

And Andrew, bless him and Joss who brought him back. Amazing how he manages to turn an episode or a whole season into something hilarious and fun. He is the one who saves season 7 a little, IMO.

My favorite Andrew part in this episode is where Andrew and Spike walk at the docks looking for the Slayer, and Andrew says Giles has taught him things and is now much more manly, then he falls down and yells like a little girl. Priceless Andrew moment!

I loved this episode, this one & the next (You're Welcome) sure seem to take the season in a different (better) direction. I love the tie-in to post-season 7 Buffy, love how the Slayers stand up for one of their own. It's so sad but telling when Andrew tells Angel at the end that no one in their camp trusts him. The Spike & Andrew reunion was so great! I'm voting for a Spandrew 'ship in the season 9 comics. 😀

Anyway, this is such a great continuation of the Slayer story, and shows the beginnings of some of the (not always positive) consequences of Willow activating all the potentials. Navi Rawat did such a great job as Dana, and I wished we had seen more of her later, or at least heard about her in the season 8 comics. Maybe in season 9? IDW Angel readers- did she ever appear in those comics?

I love Spike's line about Angel looking old- because we all know he is, and he's limping in this episode, isn't he? Is this right after DB's knee surgery?

Dana's cutting off the orderly's head at the beginning is quite disturbing. And cutting off Spike's arms, blech! Season 5 seems to be the goriest of them all.

The last scene with Spike & Angel was so great. I love:
"I'd give you the finger but apparently I won't have the motor skills until the drugs wear off." and
"I'm not saying you're right. 'Cause I'm physically incapable of saying that."

But OMG Andrew had me cracking up:
"Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding onto false hope but, I knew you'd come back. You're like... You're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. He's alive, Frodo. He's alive."
and
"Check the view screen Uhura. I've got twelve Vampire Slayers behind me, and not one of them has ever dated you."

Sigh...oh Andrew, how I've missed you! (and dammit, no Andrew icon!)

I love love love the part later where Spike said something about the blood smelling stronger and Andrews response is 'Like nickels?'

I liked this episode, and it was nice to see that the Slayers and their friends hadn't just melted off of the globe at the end of "Chosen." One thing that always struck me as wrong, however, was the last scene, when Andrew and the Slayers take Dana away from Angel. That scene didn't fit in with Andrew's character, either with the way that it had been established in Seasons 6 and 7 of "Buffy," or the way that he had been acting throughout this episode. That final scene would have been, in my opinion, much more effective if it had been Xander who showed up unexpectedly, surprising Andrew as much as Angel. Even the "Buffy doesn't trust you anymore, Angel," was pure Xander, and didn't really sound right coming from Andrew. It just didn't work properly with Andrew's character, especially when you consider the way that he greeted Angel and Spike later in Rome in "The Girl In Question," as though they had parted best buds in LA instead of what had really happened.

I too wish it was Xander in this eps. I HATE Andrew in both Buffy and Angel.

If I was Angel I would have rang up Buffy to make sure it was what she wanted. I don't like how Angel handed Dana over like that.
