So I was doing my re-watch and I found myself getting really giddy and excited at the thought that Dander happens in the comic books. That's weird to me. I mean when I read the panel with their first kiss, I literally threw up in my mouth... but watching season 7 now... knowing they pair up... I really like them. They're good for each other. I used to think Dawn could never be with someone that wasn't Connor... and Xander shouldn't be with someone who's not Anya... but I think I ship Dander now.

Sorry, but I can't praise Dander. I'm a Xanya loyalist. That said, I can appreciate the big brother/ little sister relationship between Dawn and Xander, though in the context of this thread I suppose that's a little ick. Anyway, just wanted to drop by. Adios! 😀

I can see how it happens and I bet it would be a very interesting relationship to see. I don't read the comics as of now but I can see them going for that angle. I am just glad it didn't happen on the show would have been way to soon. I am still upset Anya is gone but I don't want Xander to be alone forever so if he is with someone like Dawn I am okay with that.

That's kinda how I'm looking at it.
I'm definitely on board the Dander ship. As a matter of fact I'm in a deluxe cabin with a balcony. I think they would definitely work well together. They're both normal people that happen to be living in a crazy world and could definitely support, trust and love each other.

How old is Dawn now in the comics? I mean, even in season 7 Dawn is 16, which is older than what Buffy was while having a relationship with Angel.

Well, we don't have to question whether Dawn has a basic respect for human life, so that's something she has over Anya. 🙂

These characters don't exist in a vacuum and to be honest, I never saw a sibling dynamic to begin with.

Me either. Dawn had a crush on him... Clearly there wasn't.
Oh, I'm so on board the Dander ship. I mean, I still Xanya but it would suck just too have Xander brooding over her for the rest of his life. He's got too move on sometime and I think it's great that he is. If the idea had been thrown around in season five or six I would've been disgusted, but Dawn has matured a lot since then. She's not a little kid anymore. It actually seems like they could make it out off the Jossverse happy and in one piece because, all things considered, they're about as normal as it gets around there.

Plus, it's so cute how domesticed they are in issue 40 😉

I think it makes sense, I love Xanya but Dander works imo, and one of the few things that do in the dodgy season 8 comics.

And I'm with Cait on this... I see nothing wrong with the development of Dander. In fact, if we had gotten a Season 8 on TV, I have no doubt that it would have worked out if Joss had wanted to show it happening on screen. That one little scene in "Potential" just screams CHEMISTRY, and I think Joss meant it to happen that way, especially after also taking into account the "Daddy like" scene in "Him".

She's 18. S8 starts a year and a half after Chosen. I also remember a panel with Buffy commenting on Dawn drinking and Xander replies that she's an adult.

Though I was skeptical at first I too have jumped on the bandwagon for Dander. No offense to Xanya but their time is past. Like literally dead and buried.

As has been pointed out they're both human and normal.
And just like Xander "sees" her in Potential and how extraordinary she is, Dawn has always seemed to have the ability to "see" Xander as well. In a way that others just don't notice him. (ex. She had a crush on him - not Spike, not Riley, not Angel or Giles or Ben or anyone else mentioned)

I think they could be good for each other because in the midst of all these magical wonders and disasters they both seem incredibly anchored to the ground. Also they have big hearts 🙂

I really think if they made it through all of the madness going on around them and their friends they could have a shot at that normal life all the others seem to crave so badly.

YES... this, exactly. While all the others (minus Anya) seemed to see only the goofiness in Xander, Dawn seemed to always be able to see past it to the real Xander. She saw his caring, loyal heart and she was proud of him for his accomplishments, which seemed to get swept under the rug too often by the rest of the characters.

so very much agree, lots of things xander said or his opinion on things just got brushed off as "oh its JUST xander" they're SO wrong

That hurts my heart, but I agree completely.

To me it seemed like Dawn had a little crush on Spike as well. I think she had a bigger crush on Xander though for a longer time.
If anyone could have a normal life it would be those two I am with you on that one.

Check out James' reaction to Xander/Dawn! LOL

Did he really admit it? I can understand why he won't mention it. It's a very taboo subject.

yes he did... at the New Orleans Comic Con... Before he played Dangerous during his concert he told everyone he wrote it about Michelle... I love that song but I can never listen to it the same way ever...

even if he really did, which is fine, it sounds like the sorta thing thats made up on the spot or an inside joke between them and not serious.
