This one is the only canon ship in the comics I can stand after Batsu ended and Waluwyn was rudely destroyed by Gage.

It's awesome, and to be honest, more interesting than Xancula and Spander. The latter two may be able to induce several cheap jokes but that's only single-episode material, while Dander made this far without feeling dragging.

After reconsidering, I'm not even sure if Bangel can surpass Dander in terms of interesting-ness.

I really like Dawn and Xander together. They had some cute moments in season 7 and I think it's awesome that they brought them together in the comics.

Wouldn't it cross some bro-code line (even though Buffy's female, if she was male it would be the correct turn of phrase): thou shalt not sleep with or date your friend's sister?

Thou shalt not sleep with a undead body died hundreds of years ago.

Thou shalt not sleep with the key.

Thou shalt not sleep with a vengeance demon who enjoys slaughtering males.

😛

Absolutely, Dander are the best!

And I really miss Batsu and Waluwyn... 🙁

That's what makes it fun! 😛

Maybe Buffy is just happy Xander isn't dating a demon for once. And Buffy does know Xander and trust him.... I quess it is okay to break the bro-code. It would be way worse if Joyce was alive and Xander started dating her 😀

I thought Dawn and Xander were sweet in S7. They had their common issue and they bonded over it. I think we can let this one slide on the bro-code..... 😉

I think I was on-board the Dander ship right from when Xander told her she was beautiful when she was in centaur form.

I tried to find the exact quote and failed. I'm at work and therefore without most of of my comic collection. 🙁

Heh, and then he teased her about liking the tree-men because she's "into guys with no lower half now". Those 2 are just the adorablest...
I'm definitely on the Dander wagon, they are so cute and Xander's previous girlfriends tend to be very critical of him, whereas Dawn is more supportive

I'd like to enjoy this pairing a lot more than I actually enjoy it which is a shame. I think they're fun together and strike me as a decent match but I can't get past the ick factor. He remembers her as a kid and was her babysitter, he used to fancy her big sister.

Well, if this is any help:

1) The main reason that Dander can come off as creepy is because Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander, was 10 years older than his character. He was 26 when he started playing the 16-year-old Xander. In the comics, of course, he looks his proper age, so, this should help you get over the ick-factor.

2) Don't forget - when Xander was babysitting Dawn, she was 14-years-old and he was 19-years-old. The fact that Dawn had a babysitter at all in this age is ridiculous, and is a testament to the over-protectiveness of Buffy and Joyce (which is probably partially responsible for Dawn being a little immature for her age in seasons 5 & 6).

3) Xander is just 5 years older than Dawn, and Dawn is over 18 when she and Xander start to grow close romantically. So, this isn't pedophilic at all. If anything, 250-years-old Angel having sex with barely-17-years-old Buffy was a LOT more pedophilic.

4) Xander was always kinda immature for his age, so being with someone slightly younger than him is pretty fitting. If anything, Dawn is more mature than Xander by season 9:

Spoilers for season ten, issue 15:

5) Most of all, if you still have trouble accepting Xander being in a relationship with little baby Dawnie, just look at these for a couple of minutes:

(I put it in spoiler, because pic-spam)

And don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to defend the story, I'm just trying to help you enjoy the story. I had some trouble with the idea of Xander/Dawn too, at first, but I grew to accept and love them a lot over time.

You've definitely helped me enjoy Michelle and I appreciate it 😀

You see it's this bit that's the main sticking point. He doesn't remember Dawn from 14, he remembers her from 10 or 11. He knows her from Season 1. Back when he's old enough to be into Buffy, start dating Cordelia etc. and she's going to be even more immature than when we're introduced to her. I'm not knocking him for it but it's just a bad gut reaction I have to the relationship.

Happy to be of service. 😉

Well, when Dawn was 10 or 11, Xander was 15 or 16. It's a bit weird for us, because we saw him portrayed by the 26-years-old Nicholas Brendon at the time, but if you think about it logically, it's a pretty normative situation. Xander saw her as a child when he was pretty close to being a child too. Xander and Dawn are childhood friends who fell in love when they grew up. Kinda like Bruce Wayne and Rachel Dawes in 'Batman Begins'.

Probably not the best example to use since Rachel promptly ditched Bruce in favour of Harvey Dent before being blown up by the Joker.

For me that the main sticking point with Dander. TV Xander looks so much older than TV Dawn. Out of interest, are Buffy and Spike still together in the comics?

Well, I'd be afraid of jinxing it, but this is the Buffyverse, so they're already doomed. Joss never lets couples have happy endings. I just hope we'd get as many great stories out of them as possible, before the inevitable tears and heartbreak.

True, but in the comics Xander looks as young as he should be. He's like 23 at the beginning of the comics, and he looks like it.

Well, I still haven't read the latest issue, but so far, yes. But if your dislike of that couple is stopping you from reading the comics, you should probably know that Buffy and Spike are NOT together for the vast majority of the comics. Them being together is a relatively recent development.

I'm not overly keen on the look of the art work. I wish they'd do an animated series, maybe using the Buffy (Xbox) game animation for the characters and have the characters voiced by the actual actors from the tv series. Either way have the characters look like the actual actors.

Actually don't use the game animation but have decent animation
