Dangel vs. Bangel

I am very much a Bangel, but I 'ship Bangel after Dangel. Nothing will compare to Dangel in my heart. I think Angel grew to love her in his own way in BTVS S2. Season Two was very much a Bangel Season. Angel reached perfect happiness with Buffy. There's really no way I can satisfy everyone. I wasn't trying to be all anti-Bangel I was merely voicing my opinion and what I saw on-screen.

Angel had a history with Darla. Angel used Buffy to replace Darla so he doesn't feel lonely,

For me that isn't the case at all. The feelings Angel felt for Buffy were so much more intense then what he felt for Darla. The look on his face when he first saw Buffy, how he acted around her, i can't see how you would think he was just replacing Darla.

The History point you make i don't think rings true because that wasn't Angel loving Darla, it was Angelus loving Darla. Furthermore even Angelus was more consumed with Buffy then he was with Darla in my opinion.

When Angel's brooding away in LA he is thinking of Buffy not Darla. Angel stakes Darla for Buffy.

When Angel sleeps with Darla it isn't enough for him to lose his soul. Sure they bond during Angel season 2 but even then its nowhere near as intense as Bangel.

This is gonna go into an all-out 'ship war at this rate. Angel's love for Buffy was intense, but it was also built around love-at-first-sight which we all know doesn't exist. I think Angel had lust for Buffy and it evolved into actual love over a process of time, Angelus proved that. And I, as a die-hard Dangel believe that Angel and Darla loved each other no matter what. When they had no souls, when they were human, when Angel had a soul and Darla was pregnant, they loved each other no matter what, that in my opinion is true love, didn't say anyone had to agree with it

For me love at first sight can exist and what Angel felt wasn't about lust at all. I've had this discussion with other people.

I respect your opinion though of course but to me Angel felt that deep connection as soon as he set his eyes on Buffy, some people argue that's stupid, doesn't make sense, i believe he felt something inside of him which instinctively said i'am going to love this girl and put all my energy into protecting her. Angel says that himself and i don't think he is lying, he sounds totally sincere when he says that to Buffy.

With Darla Angel killed her to protect Buffy while he had a soul which suggests at least at that stage he was in love with Buffy, not in love with Darla otherwise he couldn't have killed her so bluntly.

When they both have a soul they do form a bond and i believe Angel does begin to care for her but i'd argue that evolves during Angel season 2 and isn't there from the beginning like it was with Buffy.

As souless creatures they were perfect for each other, much in the same bracket as Spike and Dru.

I respect your opinion too Dan K. But I can't just change mine. I like vampire 'ships, I liked Darla/Angel, I was a huge fan of Spike/Drusilla, and I really liked Vampire Willow/Vampire Xander in the Wishverse. And yeah Angel killed Darla, in his position I might have done the same thing even though I'm a Dangel 😀

No we don't all know that. Some people have experienced it. You may not believe in it, but you can't say it doesn't exist just because it hasn't happened to you.

When someone says the word 'lust' I think of just sexual attraction. I don't think that was the case at all. Yeah, they probably were attracted to each other, of course, but if it was just lust in the beginning they probably would've tried to have sex long before Surprise.

And I, as a die-hard Dangel believe that Angel and Darla loved each other no matter what. When they had no souls, when they were human, when Angel had a soul and Darla was pregnant, they loved each other no matter what, that in my opinion is true love, didn't say anyone had to agree with it

I find it interesting that you feel that way because I can think of tons of instances where both Angel AND Darla made it clear they were never truly in love.

I think it was made pretty clear in either show that Angelus couldn't love. Darla herself admits during her pregnancy that Connor was the only thing she's ever truly loved - she proves that by dusting herself. Angel says in Dear Boy he never loved Darla nor did she ever make him happy.

Yes, Angel cared for Darla. Yes, Darla cared for him. But true love? I personally can't see it.

In S2/S3, we see that Angel wants to save Darla. She's human and has a soul - she has a real chance at living again, something Angel (thinks he) will never have.

IMO, that's why he was trying to save her, not because he was in love with her.

But of course, I do respect your opinion. This isn't about a 'shipping war. I really am interested in your POV 🙂 That's why I get into 'ship debates, not because I want to argue or try to convert someone.

No you can't know love at the first sight doesn't exist. That can't be proved. It's all about do you belive in it.

Lust for Buffy? I don't think that's the case. I never saw that. When Angel saw Buffy, when he saw her crying, he wanted to be the better man. That wasn't even close to lust, or any other sexual feeling. I'm not saying it was true and pure love, but he did felt something.

You belive Angel and Darla were in love. I personally don't. When she found out he has a soul, she kicked him out. When he needed her the most, she threw him away.

But like GrrArghx, I respect your opinion, and I'm really interested in it, to see it from other's people's view. I think none of us want to argue ^^ 🙂

I generally try to avoid Bangel vs. Dangel debates because we all see things differently. The only thing I want to point out is Angel's reaction to 'the Trials' not saving Darla's life is a lot more indicative of someone who loves a girl rather because he couldn't save her.

Other than that I won't get into who he loved more because I know Angel loved Buffy with his whole soul and PROBABLY more than he did Darla... I just prefer Angel's love for Darla over his love for Buffy. Also, I agree on Angelus' inability to feel true love although I think he felt a form of love. Darla, however, I KNOW loved Angel..... not as much as she loved her son though. Her sacrifice was truly beautiful.

I know that Angel was upset after leaving Buffy but I don't like to think he spent so much time moping around about her.
To me Angel staked Darla for Buffy but not out of all love sometimes I see it like it is what he had to do, it was her of Buffy and Buffy was innocent.

Now about the sleeping with Darla of course he wasn't going to loose his soul she was a vampire again he was disgusted with himself for sleeping with her. Maybe if they had slept together why she was still human and actually wanted a better life who knows what would have happened.
There bond wasn't as strong at the moment they slept together but I can't deny what they had earlier. Darla got to him on a level no one else could. He cared for her when she came back he obsessed about her. They had a hostile yet beautiful relationship at times.
