I don't know whether this is just a continuation of the trend or a cashing in on the upcoming "Buffy" movie, but:

Jessica Alba on Fantastic Four 3 and Dark Angel Movie

Apparently there is also some talk about bringing "Dark Angel," considered to be a complete Buffy rip off by quite a few people, to the big screen now. At least they seem to be trying to use the original cast from the series.

I don't watch DA so can some explain to me what it's about please?

And how is it a rip off of Buffy? the only supernatural thing I see is a lion/man.

And yey on a possible F4:3!

When is the article dated? cause wasn't writers strike like a year or 2 ago?

I'm confused. You mean FF3 or the Dark Angel movie? As for FF3 I'm 100% it has nothing to do with the Buffy movie. As for a Dark Angel movie, even if some call it a Buffy rip-off I can't see how it can have much to do with the coming Buffy movie. And how can it be cashing in when we don't even know how the Buffy movie will do?

I wouldn't mind seeing some Dark Angel movies. I wasn't too fond of how it ended. And one movie would probably be too little time to pick up all the pieces and at the same time try and attract a whole new audience. I like Michael Weatherly but I can see a movie being done without him even if I'd prefer if he was in it if it'll ever be done.

I don't want to make it too spoilery so all I'll say is that it's set in the not so distant future. Revolves around Max, a chick with superpowers. I'm sure someone wouldn't mind saying more. And see the resemblance to Buffy? 😉 Having a young female in the lead and let her kick some serious butt is all you need.

I can do pretty well without FF3 but I'd love to see a Dark Angel movie since the end was so great and so bad at the same time. They just had all the possibilities in the world and then, of course, Fox cancelled it.

I'd definitely see it if they bring back the main cast since I always liked the Dark Angel cast but if they start recasting important characters like Alec, Logan or OC - I don't know. :/ I'd probably still watch it but think it'd be better if they used the original cast.

I'm a little worried about Jessica Alba being the lead again though. I've always thought that she forgot how to act after Dark Angel (the series) ended. I've not been too impressed with everything in her after that. Though, of course, it wouldn't be the same without her.

In the year 2009, a genetically enhanced, 9-year-old female super-soldier who calls herself Max Guevara (Jessica Alba), escapes along with eleven others like her from a secret government institution, codenamed Manticore, where they were born, raised and trained to be soldiers and assassins. On June 1, 2009, months after Max's escape, terrorists detonate an electromagnetic pulse weapon in the atmosphere over the U.S., which destroys the vast majority of computer and communication systems, throwing the country into utter chaos. (this was way more interesting before the actual June 1, 2009, let me tell you.)

The first season begins ten years later in 2019, as it follows the life of the now 19-year-old Max as she struggles to search for her Manticore brothers and sisters. In a United States which is now barely more than a Third World nation, she tries to live her life, evade capture, and learn to trust and love. She is aided by Logan Cale (Michael Weatherly), an underground cyber-journalist with the alias Eyes Only, Zack, a fellow X-5, [...] and her friends Original Cindy (Valarie Rae Miller), Herbal Thought (Alimi Ballard) and Sketchy (Richard Gunn) at Jam Pony, a courier company where she works as a bicycle messenger. Other X-5's are periodically introduced as well.

That's pretty much the summary of S1, S2 gets more Sci-Fi.

Well that would be GREAT since I have been waiting for a DA movie for awhile. But its hardly a rip-off of Buffy and a movie has been rumored ever since teh show got canned (for firefly).

And this interview was done a year ago...so its not even recent.

I did like Dark Angel, but it's been finished so long now, that a movie really doesn't interest me. Particularly since Alba forgot how to act since then.
As for the show been a Buffy rip-off - I don't think so, and if it is, I guess that means Buffy is a Xena a rip-off. They are very different shows, but with a strong female lead. That's the only similarity I see.
As for FF3, please leave it alone. Alba ain't no Sue Storm. 😀

If a new Fantastic Four happens anytime soon, it will be a reboot with a new cast, pretty sure. Tom Rothman at Fox was talking reboot of F4 and Daredevil not too long ago.

I'd go for a Dark Angel movie, but picking up from the end of Season 2 would be weird, after so much time off the air.

How about a new James Cameron sci fi concept for TV? Alba probably works better on the small screen anyway.

If they were to do a new Dark Angel movie, I can't see Jensen Ackles being involved, at least, not in the next year or so. Supernatural's wrapping after this season, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to be seen taking a step back. Plus, I've heard talk that he didn't have the best time on DA, and was glad when it was cancelled.

Yeah, I heard that too. Apparently Alba was pretty mean to him. Don't know if that's true though.
Though I couldn't imagine a Dark Angel movie without Alec/another actor as Alec at all. He kind of made S2 for me.

Me neither, he's the whole reason I watched, and he was the reason I started watching Supernatural...I missed Alec, lol.

Haha, I only knew about Jared Padalecki being in it, watched the first episode when it aired here and thought, "Hey, that's Alec! Awesome!" and after that I got addicted and watched all 3 1/2 seasons in a month. xD
I would really like a DA movie. I think it could be a great story, even for people who never watched the show.

"Freaks" being harrassed by the scared public? I really like those kind of stories.

Can't see how it's a Buffy rip-off tough. Is it just the main-character-is-a-supernatural-chick thing?
