Dark Tara?

Elaborate what happens?

There's not much back story. You drop into an AU in which Tara is Dark and EVIL. She summons vampires and throws magic crap at you while making funny puns and being oddly, how shall I put it, arousing? You fight against her as Willow.

I wouldnt see her doing it either. Yet, it is fun to entertain the idea if she did, and if Willow was in the wrong place at the wrong time instead of Tara. I think it could have gone down pretty well.

I couldn't see her going dark either. Tara always said too much magic was bad for you. Shame Willow didn't listen.

Considering the place Tara was in at the point of the shooting I'd definitely say no. She wouldn't have gone dark. Just as I would have thought it had been impossible for Willow in the earlier seasons. Willow changed (who doesn't?) and that's why she went dark. Tara was in better balance, in harmony if you will. While Willow was guided by her feelings, which where all over the place. No harmony where which allowed her to go take this tragic step.

something to think about
not a what if thing just about what a Dark Tara would be like..
If you twisted Taras warmth her compasion around..some great brain candy..

You know what Challenge accepted...

Tara wouldn't have turned into Dark Tara. Going after Warren (or threatening to) might have been as far as she'd take it, but she wouldn't have flipped out like Willow did. She wasn't as powerful, and Willow did have the whole addiction...thing. It would have been interesting though.

Like others have said, I don't think Tara would have gone dark, she would have grieved in a healthy way. If that were to really happen, then it would have caused a lot of angry fans (including me) because that would have been completely out of character for Tara.

People can say that what happened to Willow was completely out of character as well, but at least there was development there to make it believable.

Do people actually believe that it was out of character for Willow? Haha I remember re-watching season 2 (or was it 3?) after I saw 6 and when she yelled, "GET THE HELL OUTTA MY LIBRARY!" to Xander and Cordy I remember thinking, "Well then...she's always been a little fierce" 😉. Of course she was still sweet, adorable Willow but Dark Willow didn't really surprise me (considering how much she'd changed since high school). When her eyes turn black when she restores Angel's soul in Becoming Pt. 2...well that was some insane unintentional foreshadowing.

I agree that it would have been insanely unrealistic and just plain annoying if Tara went nuts like that.

Ugh, how I wish I still had that game. Although the voice actress for Willow was horrible.

I quite liked her, she didn't sound like Ms. Hannigan and I don't think she tried to but she sure as hell sounded like Willow. You know, cute, sugary and adorable.

I would say no as others have said it seems out of character for Tara. However, there was a time when I never would have thought Willow would go there either.
Spunky, happy go lucky, sweet and caring lil' Willow going to turn into an angry black haired out for blood witch? No Way!
So I guess it is a possibility.

I would imagine Tara reverting back to the timid, shy and stand offish character she started as actually if Willow had died.

I've done some thinking about this subject, since I'm going to try and include something similar to a 'Dark Tara' in one of my fics.

The only true way Tara would ever have gone Dark is if some outside force had gotten her invovled in Dark Magicks, e.g. forced her to use them. Any other way truly doesn't make much sense. Tara, by her own nature, wouldn't go near Dark Magicks, considering that she is extremely cautious about using it herself. We've only seen her use Magick as a defensive measure only a few times. So, without an outside force, such as Rack, Amy, or even Dark Willow, to trigger a connection to Dark Magicks that would consume her, and/or overwhelm her Light Magick connection.

The possibility that in some AU that she turned to using it after her mother died/she was afraid of the fake 'Demon' inside her is possible, but again, only in an AU

First thing that popped to my mind while reading the topic is Tara telling Buffy how she went crazy when her mom died. You know what, for Willow I do think Tara might have gone the dark route. But would she ever go out to get revenge, no I don't think so. I would imagine something more along the line of magic consuming her like everyone already said. I would also imagine a possible suicide storyline.

The 'went crazy' line also came to my mind after I posted that. It makes sense. Could also explain why she's very heistant about using too much Magick

If it were to happen, I'd have it happen like this:

Tara begs Osiris for Willow's life and Osiris tells her that the only way to undo what has been done is to sacrifice Warren in exchange for Willow's soul. So Tara goes to the magic shop and begins researching the ingredients required for her to exchange Warren for Willow and thus begins the hunt for him. Warren would probably still go to Rack after Buffy survives the gunshot wound (this would require Buffy to be shot in a different part of the body because if I recall correctly, Buffy was about to die AGAIN had it not been for Willow) and be warned by Rack that Tara was out for him, but Warren would most likely underestimate Tara because, well, it's Tara.

Warren, after not being helped by Rack because he killed Willow would probably go to the Magic Shop to steal some supplies when LOOK WHO IS THERE, Tara! Tara would use her magic to bind Warren in mid-air a la Dark Willow and begin the ritual. Buffy and Xander would have then just found Dawn by Willow's body and probably be mourning, and as soon as their minds would turn to wondering if Tara knew about Willow, Willow would come back to life just as Tara finishes completing the ritual, leaving Warren dead.

Now, it could go either way to make Tara step it up to Dark Willow levels. Either something in the ritual goes awry and corrupts Tara's soul so that an evil spiritual being takes over her body to begin opening the Hellmouth or another demonic dimension and Willow has to bring Tara back OR, the spell "works" but Willow isn't as she was before (For Game of Thrones fans, this might sound familiar) causing Tara to lose it (I mean, she just took a human life and that is bound to mess with someone) and she decides to take on Osiris herself, opening a dimension that causes Sunnydale to fall apart and Willow astral projects to stop Tara, somehow. I mean, Willow is trapped in her body but who's to say she can't still use magic?

I mean, they're not as good or as built up as Willow's arc, but if I had it my way, that would be the basis of turning Tara dark and just having it refined a little more could really make the story pop. We don't know what happened with Tara after her mom died so they could cut in flashbacks of Tara doing some heinous things to show what she had to do to overcome her evil side and why she's so respectful of magic now because I find that typically, addicts who have overcome their addictions tend to be more "respectful" towards the thing they abused (hence why Willow was acting a little more like Tara in season 7)

edit: OR, could have Tara sucked into a Hell dimension and set up the basis for season 7 where they have to go into the hell dimension to get Tara back or Tara comes back in season 7 as an agent for the First. I am FULL of ideas.

What if when Warren shot through the window, Willow had been standing where Tara was? Willow would have been killed instead of Tara, and the whole show would have been different from then on.
Do you think we would have gotten Dark Tara, or do you think Tara would have grieved Willow in a healthy way?

OMG that would have been AWESOME! I wish they'd done that!

While I am glad that this didn't happen.. I think the show would have brought an awesome-sadness to it. A core character killed off a few episodes before a finale. Tara's role would have become so much more important in the seventh season.

To answer the question I think she would not have.. but then again, she may have. Sometimes something brutal may send anyone into a rage. Willow's rage was nearly unavoidable anyways. I think any of the scoobie's death could have led to a Dark Willow while a Willow's death may have sent Tara over.
