I must say I'm having trouble with the gang upset about how Willow responds to what happens to Tara in these seasons.
In season 5, Glory "attacks" Tara and Willow goes bonkers then goes after Glory for revenge.
In season 6, Tara dies and Willow once again is pushed over the edge as she goes for revenge some more.

Why are the Scoobies trying to get back regular Willow?
Willow loses the love of her life on two occasions and she responds the only way she knows how.
Sure it may be a bit overboard, but she doesn't know any other way. Remember she was a simple computer hacker in season one and we all know that wouldn't frighten Glory or Warren.

I think that Willow would not have gone all the way with her plan even if Xander did not stop her.
Her moral comapss would have taken over and would have prevented her from doing what she knew was wrong.

Anyway, that's how I see it.

I don't think so, Because while that was still Willow, It wasn't really The Willow we know, she was under the control of the Magicks, they consumed her. Her using that dark magick was a total loss of control!

I agree with BEG; Xander needed to be there. Willow had completely lost herself in magic. As a result, she didn't check her "moral compass" (as you so eloquently put it) anymore and it wasn't until Xander showed up and forced her to take notice of where this compass was pointing, that she realised what she was doing.

the guys are right...if Xander had not shown up, Willow WOULD have gone through with her plan. she had nothing left to live for. Tara WAS her reason for living.

I think that's an odd question, why wouldn't they? If you see your friend completely consumed by forces that are not of their own, wouldn't you try to save them? They loved Willow, and it was no question that they would try to save her from being consumed by evil.

And I agree with the others, she would have gone through with her plan if Xander didn't stop her, she was grieving, she was out for revenge, and in her mind, she had nothing left.
