I think we've seen enough of the new Willow to come to some conclusions.

Think of it this way. Like suppose a portal opened up between alternate realities and the Dark Willow of Season 6 emerged. If the new Willow of Season 8 had to take her on, which one has the real power?

The New Willow. She can totally kick...erm...a*s!

To put it simply: New Willow has lots more control and just plain rocks. Woo!

Intresting, it would be a fun fight to watch!

I think New willow would win, the amout of stuff she has done in the comic is pretty impressive, like healing her eye instantly, and beig able to heal others.

But Dart Willow was able to survive a Axe in the back, so it would be a pretty long fight!

I think Dark Willow would probably be able to take on White Willow, because yeah Willow's been able to do a lot of stuff now, but we also have to remember that this is a comic book so all the light shows and colors are for the comics. Also when Willow uses more powerful magick she goes all black hair and veiny which to me basically says her dark side is her stronger side, but yet it's evil.

I still haven't read the comic yet but I saw somebody say she healed her eye if that's the case why couldn't she heal Xander's eye

That's interesting about the healing of the eye, and the damaged tissue from the attempted lobotomy.

Isn't what she does more the repairing of damaged organs though? She doesn't create new ones, I don't think? Similarly Amy doesn't create a new organ (skin is an organ) for Warren she protects what's exposed with magic.

Willow says "Serious magic is kinda like improv...You can't just stop it cold. You gotta adapt." In season 7 she says "Magic works off science". Is Buffyverse magic about the adapting of scientific laws?

We have seen new organs created by magic when Buffy was recreated in The Bargaining, but there were all kinds of complications, and consequences with that one.

Remember when the flower from Brazil appeared in Willow's hand in Lessons. She didn't create a flower. She transported one from Brazil.

Yeah thats true, it's like that scientific law, You can't create something from nothing. When xanders eye was squished the doctors probably removed the left overs, so there is nothing for her to work with.

Dark willow was able to do it the same way, she was able to remove the axe and repair herself.

I'm haveing trouble remembering, but did the axe go throught Dart Willows Spine, cuz then that ups the favor on the dark side.

Don't know about White Willow as in the one at the end of season 7, but I'm pretty sure Dark Willow could take down the New (regular) Willow hands down because whenever she needs to amp up her power she starts turning dark.

Is that what's happening though? Is she amping it up, or is she just losing it?

It's like in a real fight. You can lose it, and seem to be getting a sudden surge of power, but professional fighters try not to do that, because it also muddles their training, thinking, and strategy.

I loved that part where Willow was taking some shots from Amy, which made her look weak, but really what she was doing was decoding Amy's magic.

Yeah my whole thing is despite how powerful Willow is, whenever she seems to tap into more powerful magicks she seems to not go evil but her hair will go black. Which again says to me that her darker self is more powerful than she is now. And I believe because of her new power which she got after the slayer spell it only makes her dark side that much stronger because Dark Willow is nothing but an evil advancement of regular Willow. So since regular Willow is MUCH more powerful than she was when she first went evil then that'd mean that if Willow went evil again she'd be MUCH more powerful than she was in Season Six.

Imo Dark Willow wasn't necessarily evil, she just wanted to kill Warren because he killed Tara. He deserved what he got. Jonathan and Andrew were probably responsible for several deaths as well (don't remember exactly anymore), but they were the evil villains at the time so while killing them without a trial might have been over the top I wouldn't have called it evil. And the Dark Willow also saved Buffy's life by healing the gunshot wound. The thing about trying to end the world was to stop everyone's suffering, so while the act would have been evil the motivation wasn't. Personally I'm tired of superheroes with goody two shoes boyscout/girlscout moralities - the real badass good guys are more fun...

While her killing of Warren was understandable. She was DAMN evil as things progressed. She was going to END THE WORLD. Basically until she got the Mojo from Giles her emotions other than anger had completely shut off. Not to mention all that black magic was definitely unhealthy.

Still now that she seems to have access to both sides of the spectrum and has both the power and control. New Willow would proabbly be able to take out Dark Willow.

Willow didn't start off completely evil because she just wanted to kill Warren true, but as time progressed she was definitely evil. Not only did she attempt to destroy the world, but she was willing to turn Dawn back into the key but Buffy showed up before she could do that. She was willing to kill Buffy when she summoned all those demons in the grave and she basically almost killed Giles when she drained him of the borrowed magick that he had.

Also another thing that shows that Dark Willow is still much stronger than regular Willow is Warren in issue 4 begging Willow to go dark because it'd make her bonds that much stronger and unbreakable

Interesting point. Dark Willow would not have been able to get out of that situation, yet New Willow did. As it turned out the way to break the bonds was stay cool, and wait for Buffy.

So what is real power. Is it the ability to get the job done, or the ability to access sudden bursts of power. In real life who's the more powerful? The one who loses control in angry outbursts to get surges of andrenaline, or the one who maintains control over organized energy to work towards succeeding at the task. Which is more successful at getting the task at hand done.

I wish you were a boxing fan. I'd direct you to Hollyfield versus Tyson, or any of a number of fights where the more controlled fighter won.

Well I mean power is nothing without control but control is nothing without power. It's almost kind of like the analogy Xander used in Season Seven with the Hammer, you know you can either hit it hard with all your might and get the job done with one hit but risk hurting your finger or you can take more control hits but risk the job taking much longer so power vs. control. But at the same time Dark Willow seemed to have a lot of control over her powers so was she really that much out of control? The only thing out of control with Dark Willow was her emotional state but not her power. I could possibly argue that Dark Willow had much more control over her powers than regular Willow because she was able to do things that regular Willow probably didn't even think was possible, but again her emotional state was the one that was distorted.

But again the question was who'd win the fight? In the end Dark Willow was defeated by a mere powerless human. If Dark Willow had been laying on Warren's operation table she'd be lobotomized jelly.

It's not so much a question of who has access to greater bursts of energy, but who'd win.

Going back to the fighting analogy, there used to be this Brazilian ju jitsu expert named Royce Gracy. He was allowed to fight above his weight class. He'd climb up on much larger, more powerful mixed martial artists, get them in an arm lock, and make them cry for mercy.

Yeah but Dark Willow was defeated because her emotional state was screwed up at the time she went dark, but if Willow went dark again would she be in the same unstable state? Because ever since her darkness first emerged she simply goes dark just by using powerful magicks so I don't think her grief over Tara and such would even be a factor

I'm wondering about that dark eyes thing. What exactly is going on there? Buffy went dark eyes last issue by accessing that weapons magic the slayer witches had set up for her, but I'm not sure that was dark magic, just magic. Willow appeared to go dark eyes in her fight with Amy when she lost control of her temper. I'm thinking maybe it isn't so much light or dark magic as energy the user loses control of. In dark Willow's case one can perhaps see it as a case of the power running her rather than vice versa.

But there are also scenes in Season Six where Willow's eyes aren't black when she's Dark Willow so I don't know I guess using strong magick makes your eyes go dark, and even though the magick isn't strong to Amy to Buffy who's body isn't used to using magick whatever it is she was doing was probably powerful to her.

The key to winning any fight is to go into battle with a clear mind. Power doesn't mean anything if the person is only fighting with their emotions. Dark Willow relied mostly on power and emotion to get her way. She didn't do much with strategy. White Willow, on the other hand is now more experienced than Dark Willow and has more control over her power. Not only that she has a clearer mind in battle. This will ultimately allow White Willow to win the battle.

Dark Willow is more powerful since she feeds off of raw magic but the person who has the control and power will win and that's White Willow.
