I agree. I liked the fact that they did Dark Willow because it should that Willow indeed had a darkside. True, they should that in Vampire Willow to a degree, but Dark Willow was a lot more powerful and darker than even she ever was. I'm glad they got back to normal sweet and cute Willow, but Dark Willow did a good job at showing her darkside.

Also, I don't mean to defend murder here, but I really didn't have much sympathy for Warren.
 
^ Me neither, heh. I sort of cheered when he was killed.
The only thing I felt bad about was the fact that I knew Willow did not want to be a murderer, and she'd have to live with that for the rest of her life. But as for the person who was murdered? Pssht, I could have cared less.
 
^Yeah...poor Willow. I think she started to forgive herself for that when she did that amazing bit of magic to give all the potentials their slayer powers.
 
here's my take on Dark Willow...



She loved Tara with every fiber of her being, and one violent act snatched her away. The grief she felt was beyond words. I believe part of her died with Tara, which left a dark hole, an abyss.

The unbearable grief became ANGER.

She was THE LIGHT that kept the darkness at bay, cruelly snuffed out by that psychotic tool Warren. With Tara gone, there was no reason for Willow not to embrace her dark side completely.

never to return.

just finished watching "Villians" and Warren deserved to die a painful death.
 
To this day, I still love seeing Dark Willow.

I thought the magic addiction storyline was done brilliantly throughout seasons six & seven and definetley gave the character more "umph".

I remember watching this season on TV and rooting for her to stay on the wagon, and then falling off when Tara was killed was so heartbreaking to watch...yet I was intrigued & fascinated by this new dimension to Willow. I don't think any of us realised how powerful she was until then. Hell, Willow didn't even realise it.

And the finale episode, 'Grave', was brilliant. The final scene between Xander & Willow was so well-written & acted.

Ahhh *sighs*
 
i love Dark Willow. The end of season 6, well even the whole season was written brilliantly!
(except Hells Bells ;( )

especially the last disc.
the script for grave was brilliant.
i also like at the end with Buffy and Dawn.
 
I kind of like Dark Willow, but I have problems with her. She was a little bit campy/smartassy, a little too glib, she didn't seem very menacing (well, besides the veins and the black hair and black clothes). It was a little over-done for my tastes. And I never really liked the "addiction" metaphor either. That's not to say that people can't become addicted to some things--we can be addicts of anything--but, especially in the scene where Willow says "I got addicted, like addicts do" in 'As You Were', it seemed so movie-of-the-week. It was a little too up front and almost--almost--forced. She did get into it too much, it was good of her friends to take it away, but I always got the feeling that she was addicted to heroine or alcohol.
 
Yeah, and at least Angellus had a reason to be such a smart alec jokester--he was locked up, there wasn't much else to do. With Willow, it felt like an evil villain stereotype whereas she could have been a lot cooler if she was a little more vile and a little less of a high school bully with super powers.

I think Dark Willow is sooooo awesome, but I wouldn't want her all the time. Part of her charm was that she was opposite of what we consider to be Willow. And even through her rage, her grief was so plain... Dark Willow was empowering and heartbreaking. If we had her all the time, though, it she wouldn't be so good. She'd just be this other badass character without any depth. Just some chick with a broken heart. I'd compare 24/7 Dark Willow to Vengeance Demon Anya (pre Xander). And yeah, dug the whole magick/addiction thing. It was phenomenal.

On a slightly different but related very much so note, I read an interesting article as to the becoming of Dark Willow. Evil Willow (Dark and Vamp)'s catch phrase is, of course, the famous "Bored now." Boredom implies waiting. Willow's always had an insecure and dark side (Dopplegangland shows that with the spinning pencil representing the amount of emotional control. It spins wildly and flies into a tree when Buffy mentions Faith, even in a negative aspect.) which is presented many times, but she's always had something to keep her in check. Something she's waiting for. To get all philosophical, it can be argued that we're all waiting for something; it was just more key to Willow's character. I'm guessing that when she and Tara got together, it felt like she didn't have to wait anymore. She wasn't bored. She was purely happy. When that scumbag killed Tara, her "link" was gone. Not only did she not have something wonderful to totally occupy her, but once she had had it, there wasn't anything more to wait for. She had vengeance in mind: it was her only target. The only thing left she was waiting for. When she skins Warren, her parting words are "Bored now." She'd done him in and she was bored again. So she had to focus on another objective: Jonathan and Andrew. And in an even bigger picture, the world. There was nothing left to wait for. She was bored with no hope of an occupation. So it all had to end.
That's basically a synopsis of the article (with a little bit of my own take added in). I thought it had a lot of good insights and Willow just keeps getting deeper and deeper. It's incredible.

I HATED Dark Willow. I get what the writers were doing, but I really really really hated when they decided to make Willow the Big Bad. 🙁 Everything I ever loved about Willow was, like, nearly gone after Season 5. I miss the early-Buffy Willow when she was shy and cute and was still in love with Oz. 🙁
I felt so sorry for Willow at the end of S6
when she lost Tara the way she did. And the blood across her shirt always makes me cry... 🙁
, but I absolutely hated Willow to be that way. And then she was never the shiny, happy Willow I loved so much so I just never got over how much I despised that whole story arc.

Yeah i kinda agree ,but i did what willlow to show who is business like when she quoted in the ep "WILLOW: (scoffs) Let me tell you something about Willow. (advancing toward Buffy) She's a loser. And she always has been. People picked on Willow in junior high school, high school, up until college. With her stupid mousy ways. And now? Willow's a junkie". So i was glad too show willow how powerful she can become..
 
When I see the scene with Willow was up in the bedroom, right after she screamed at Osiris (or his minion) I always hear Darth Vader's voice "Good. You cannot control your grief. Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy them."

I hadn't thought about that, but that's GREAT! I don't think I'll be able to watch the episode without hearing that now!
I loved Dark Willow. I think it was great that we got to see someone so innocent and pure (mostly) grasp power way beyond her understanding, and it was interesting to see her grow into using it. I think that Willow herself has that low self-esteem and finally she has a reason to let everything out. Notice she isn't as close with Dawn after the whole "Mom, Buffy, Tara, Waaaah!" mock she did. Seeing Willow go all dark so quickly shows (to me) that it's been there for a while, and now that Tara was gone, she could finally let go, because pretty much Tara couldn't tell her to stop using magic.
Oh, and I don't believe in Star Wars 😛

Meh, I'm not so sure transcripts call it a demon and whilst he may just be fond of speaking in the third person the demon does say

'How dare you invoke Osiris in this task!'

Seems to me as if it would be some sort of minion that would answer a call to invoke Osiris, like any big wig in real life, gotta speak to the receptionist before you speak to the big guy.
 
I don't think it was clear that it was in fact Osiris. I mean, come on, as skilled of a witch as Willow was.... how can she take down something as powerful as Osiris in like... 3 seconds? It had to have been a minion. Otherwise, if it was Osiris himself, Willow didn't kill him, she just hurt him or something. She invoked him, he appeared as a cloud, and she did something equivalent to whacking someone in the back with a full suitcase. It hurts, it stings, you go running and crying--meanwhile wondering "who hits people with suitcases?"--but you don't die.
