Dark Willow

I always thought it was Osiris. Speaking about yourself in the third person indicates that your either crazy or full of self importance.
 
Dark Willow was a highlight for me and had me ALL IN during season 6. Joss mentioned (somewhere I read) that he was directly influenced by Chris Claremont's classic Dark Phoenix character (and saga) and i remember one of the doomed trio that Willow was pursuing even made reference to Dark Phoenix lol.
 
Dark Willow broke my heart. Knowing the pain that she felt watching Tara die right in front of her absolutely devastated her. Then Xander gets to save the world for once. That was so cool! Good for Xander!

I hated them for killing Tara. That was just awful. Willow's reaction was understandable and devastating. I wasn't sorry she killed Warren, except for how it changed her to do it. Dark Willow was cool in a way, but I also prefer Willow in the earlier seasons-not necessarily season 1, but when she started experimenting with magic and when she seemed to gain some confidence and especially when she got over Xander.
 
I loved Dark Willow, and the season finale is my second favorite episode of the season. I really love how Xander got through to her, it was definitely an emotional moment. It proved that he was just as important and strong as the other Scoobies.
 
I absolutely love Dark Willow, but lately that's been confusing me on how I feel about Tara's death. I adore Tara and Twillow and all of that, but without the shooting of Tara, there would be no Dark Willow, a thought which just devastates me.
Like a lot of things in the Buffyverse, it was a good move, but it made me sad. I think there's certainly a difference between hating an event that happened and hating... something else. But I hope you know what I'm talking about. Like killing Angel in Becoming Pt2... I hated Angel dying, but I loved it. The show wouldn't be the same without it. Every time Joss makes me cry, I love him a little bit more.
 
Willow has always been my favourite character and the dark Willow was really great, she also looked great as the vampire Willow. When she was going through stage it showed her true powers.

I can see what you are saying, but Willow was in mourning, like anyone consumed in grief she wanted revenge on the one that murdered Tara (Warren). Her reliance on magic in this season alone made her pretty much the way she was. If Tara hadn't died, I think Willow would have probably been able to get through it much better then how it was intended.
 
I agree that the three episode arc of Evily Willow was awesomesauce. I really like how she just kicked everyone's ass. The slayer, who stops all the biggest baddies gets trounced by Willow.
I also really liked how they took it to the next season and the first time Willow does some intense magic she goes all opositey with the white hair and all that.
 
I've always wondered how things might have turned out had Willow not been re~cast to Allison Hannigan and remained with the girl originally used in the unaired, short pilot.

Initially Willow was intended to go bad much sooner than season 6 but AH was just so lovable her role as the show progressed grew.

I've decided that I don't like the term "Dark Willow". It becomes too much of a cop out for me because it groups the late S6 Willow with Vamp Willow in a way. Willow was grief stricken, yes, but she was still Willow. Talking about her as "Dark Willow" make me feel as if though I'm relieving her of the responsibility for her actions.

Gah, I'm too tired. Do I make sense?

I wonder that, too. I mean, the original girl just didn't have the range, if you ask me. I don't think she could have pulled off Dark Willow *at all.*

With DW herself stating things like "Willow is dead" and generally talking of "Willow" in the 3rd person, I guess it's hard not to fall into the trap of splitting them two up.

I generally agree with you though - especially as DW didn't come out of the blue. We've had all of S6 dealing with "non-dark" Willow meddling pretty deep in the darkside, and the first sign of her dark potential go all the way back to S4 (Wild At Heart, Something Blue). Willow/Dark Willow is as gradual a slope as it is with the good and evil of Spike - which makes both of them way more interesting characters for me to watch than the harshly split Angel/us.
