Darla born in the British Isles?

With all the caveats about relying on Wikipedia, on its page about Darla, it says the following:

Darla was born in the late 16th century in the British Isles. Her birth name has never been revealed in either series, and she herself eventually forgot it. As a young prostitute, she emigrated to the British Virginia Colony in North America and became independently wealthy but also contracted a fatal case of syphilis.

Does anyone know if that's established canon and, if so, where it's established? I had always assumed she was born in Virginia Colony, though I guess that's not canon either.

The episode "Darla" showed her living in Virginia in the year 1609. Since Virginia was only settled in 1607, she couldn't have been born there. She was most likely born in England in the 1580's.

Of course, there were a LOT of historical problems with that episode. In 1609, there would have been no buildings in Jamestown (the only town) other than log cabins... Darla's two-story house with glass-paned windows would not have existed... even the governor didn't have a house like that yet. In fact, the colonists were all living inside the fort at that time because of a relentless siege by the local Indians that wound up killing 70% of the settlers.

Also, the Master got into Darla's room by posing as a Catholic priest. A Catholic priest would not have been welcomed in Virginia at that time... he would have been arrested on sight and probably executed. Catholicism was illegal in English territory at that time.
