What did everyone think of Darla?

Theres something I didn't like about her, however I thought she was a good character, I just cant put my finger on it. ::huh1::

Darla was just boring! And the masters little pet.... (yeah not much love for Darla. more of a Dru over.. She's so wonderfully insane)

Love, Love, Love Darla. Moreso on Angel than on Buffy, but I did think she was an awesome character, who had one of the best developments on either show.

I loved seeing how much she changed, from that dying prostitute The Master sired, into a mother who gave up her life for her unborn son, and came back to try and help him. (yes, I know people think it was The First, but I will always believe it was Darla)

Darla skipping down the road to the Bronze sends chills down my spine every time. I loved her in Buffy, expecially in the context of what we learn on Angel. She's the Master's little girl, and she knows it. She can get away with anything

Guys, we´re in the season 1 section. Maybe hold off on comments regarding the future? Just a thought. Some of our newbies haven´t seen the whole show. Even if Nat has seen episodes here and there.

I love Darlas intruduction to the show. Hard not to. But other than that she was kind of boring except then she had guns. 😀 So out of character for the whole show. :lmao:

Darla in season 1 of Buffy was a pretty forgettable character. She was cute and evil, which is always good, but other than that she was just another vampire.

But I LOVED her on Angel, one of my favourites on the show.:biggrin:

I liked the fact she tryed using guns that doesnt happen enough but its such a logical method to kill a slayer.

However did you noticed she had a unlimited clip it never ended.

I like the character, I think that Julie Benz played her really well, and I absolutely LOVED the idea of a pistol packin' vampire. There should have been more like that. Maybe it would have forced the Watchers' Council to move the Slayers into the Twentieth Century.

I hated her on Buffy. However, i really liked her on Angel. When i watched season 1 of buffy (i watched Angel 1st) I was really disappointed..

She was never one of my favourites... but i don't hate her.. I just don't really care about her..

But, like Dancing Man said.. she was the 1st and almost the only one who thought about using guns to kill Buffy. and that is a big + !

Meh, Buffy season 1 Darla was OK. If that would have been the end of her story I doubt I would have had much to say about her BUT through the many flashbacks we get a really interesting glimpse.

BUT her story REALLY starts when she is brought back to life in Angel.

I mean the way season 1 ended there, that was brilliant.

Her progression through season 2 really made it magnificent and really gave her depth in season 1 Buffy.

No, because of her time on Angel, Darla became one of my favourite characters, especially when she was with Dru AND when she made Angel dark!!!

On Buffy she was a bit one dimensional. Plus she talked kinda funny with her fangs in. I always smile a bit when she says this:

You love someone who hates us. You're sick. And you'll always be sick.

It sounds funny.

She was terrific on Angel though.

While she was on Buffy there wasn't really enough room for character development so i didn't like her very much, or didn't have much of an interest in her as a character.
Once she progressed onto Angel though, and she was given basically entire episodes detailing everything that she'd been through in her past, it made her so much more interesting and I grew to absolutely love her as a character. I even loved the idea of her and Angel being together back when they were both evil, being hunted down by Holtz. In a Bonnie and Clyde kind of way, their relationship was almost beautiful.

I loved the character of Darla. She was dark and mysterious and wierdly enough had this crazy motherly vibe but in an evil way. I did not like her as a gun-toting vamp but I love how her story line was developed. I was certainly sad to see the end of her character.

Darla, season one, Buffy.. I had never seen a vampire using guns before. Come on. She pulls out two guns and quips "I can shoot you in the kneecaps, wont kill you but make dancin' hard" O H M Y! She looked rather hot too with them guns lemme tell ya

I like Darla in Buffy. I loved her in s2 Angel, i think possibly THE best Ats storyline. But s3 she was just boring, after s2 it just felt like they should have went in a different direction instead of bringing her back

I completely agree... Darla was just a delicious character. I always loved seeing her scenes, especially with Angel and Dru. I was so happy that they brought her in on "Angel" and really fleshed her storyline out. I missed her a lot when they killed her off for good. 🙁

I adore Darla... on Angel... her only fault is that she spawned Connor, but hey, guess you can't pick 'em 😛 But seriously, Darla is for sure one of the best characters in the Buffyverse and on Angel they fleshed her out and gave her a background and brought her to life in such a way that the Darla we see on Buffy S1 no longer rings true to me. I find myself yelling at the screen, "Why are you being SUCH a wimp?! You're pulling out guns? Seriously?! You are way more of a bad ass than that!!!" I mean at one point she even says something to the Master about how strong this girl (Buffy) was, like she was all perplexed by it, like she had not the slightest inkling of what a slayer was and that maybe Buffy was it! Just looking back on it now its like WTF, she came off more as a newely turned vamp than as Angelus' sire. I know its cause they hadn't really come up with all her backstory yet and she was only meant to be around for a few episodes, but everytime I watch it I still can't help thinking that she would not be killed that easily, she would put up WAY more of a fight than that. Just one of those things I guess.

i loved her backstory and how she was the masters pet and then seeing her past with angelus, a lot of history, shes a wonderfully dark character who i was sad to see go, she was my fave vamp after angel

I would have loved to have seen more of Darla and the Master's past... Twisted as it sounds, I always wondered if maybe the Master had a little thing going on with her and maybe that was one reason he hated Angelus so much. Jealousy? Maybe...
