Darla.

...and every word she says just seems to drip with sex! She's one sexy lady. I loved the depth they gave her in Angel. It was a bit like what they did with Spike in Buffy. I much preferred the idea that vamps have emotions close (at least) to love and friendship and aren't just 100% soulless beasts interesting only in blood.

Given my love for anything with Julie Benz in the Buffyverse (quite agree Charlie, one sexy lady); I love any incarnation with Darla: The school girl 'pet of the Master' or the scheming mainipulater in Angel Season Two. One of the most severely underrated recurring characters in both series. Darla's awesome!

i liked her cuz she could love she said"do you have aby idea what its like loving someone who once loved you?"

and she was hurt/surprised when angel-her partner for lifetimes-staked her.

she was kinda charming too-good casting
 
Well, as a vampire I could hate her without feeling funny. But in the first half of season 2, I'm confused.

She rapes Angel's when he's asleep(we can see Angel sleeping and Darla on top of him, "going down", to the right of the screen, like Willow did in the bedroom scene in Once more With feeling, so yuck), kills that actor and it seems like the only reason she became "nice" is because Angel was ready to fight for her.

I just think that her character didn't get a chance to evolve enough, (even tough sharing Connor's soul in season 3 did soften her up), so I don't know if I could have liked her or not. Right now I just feel sorry for her (and disgusted).

I think she was a good addition tough, really brough out the dark in Angel and gave birth to Connor, who brought out the soft in Angel.
 
I didn't like how she was more of a wussy suck-up Vamp instead of that vicious evil no mercy leader vampire she was portrayed to be later, and in the past. It lead me to believe that maybe the Darla storyline was really just written as they went along and not thought out beforehand. Nothing wrong with that, it just seemed like a kind of big leap/character change kinda thing.

Thats exactly what it was... during her appearance on Buffy they didn't have her whole backstory worked out, its why in retrospect she doesn't seem like the Darla we know.
I love Darla, and I think that may be because of her many layers and personalities. We've seen her as sexy prostitute Darla, cute schoolgirl Darla, fancy vampire Darla, pitiful human Darla, pregnant Darla, sacrificial Darla, working- for- the- powers- that- be Darla, crazy Darla, evil Darla, she has and is everything, and there's so much depth to her character. I just adore her, she's so witty and strong and sarcastic and just AWESOME. 😀
 
Darla's one of my favorite characters because she's very cool and unique. Also, she's kind of grown throughout Btvs and Angel because she was this vampire trying to kill Buffy in the beginning of the show and later on near her death she becomes mother to her son who she sacrificed her life for.
 
I've said this on other threads but I suppose it's appropriate to say it here. In my opinion Julie Benz's portrayal of Darla in season 3 of AtS is one of the best pieces of television acting I've ever seen. She is entirely genuine & believable, she shows a quite ridiculous range & her technical skill is second to none. The only performance in the rest of the Jossverse that I would put on par with her S3 arc is Nathan Fillion as Mal in Firefly.
 
Darla on Buffy is so much different to Darla of Angel.
On Buffy, she wasn't very scarifying, so it doesn't really matter to me, that Angel killed her. Her departure from Buffy wasn't a big deficit for the series.
But on Angel, she has been introduced completely new and different to the fans. The story about her resurrection was quite interesting and also the view back in her past (and also in her time with Angelus). She developed to an interesting character, who dominated big part of season 2. Her appearance in season 3 ended up quite surprising for me, cuz I expected everything from a pregnant vampire, but not that her child does have a sou, what makes her emotional like a human...her end was quite touching, but for sure, it would have been interesting too, if we could have seen, how she would have behaved after the birth of Connor....?! I mean, okay, it's her child, but she has been a vampire without a soul......
