i was truly touched at this scene she sacrafised herself for her unborn child what did you feel during this scene??
 
I was thinking..."Rain plus vamp dist equals vampire mud."

Seriously, I thought it was a noble sacrifice, especially when you consider the fact that the creature making it was formerly one of the most vicious killers in Europe, whose favorite snack used to be the blood of babies.

yeah i agree with White avenger... when i first saw it i was first in a little bit of shock because i hadnt been expecting that...i thought. "she just killed her self for the baby" it was a noble act, and showed how good of a mother and vampire she became....
 
Pissed off that they just killed off my favorite character lol

Just kidding, no I probably felt "wow" because I wasn't expecting it and it was so dramatically fulfulling 🙂
 
I was kind of like "Huh, what did that really just happen?" Then I was thinking is this really believable I mean she is a vampire they are evil. Finally I remembered something that Drusilla said in Crush "Oh, we can, you know. We can love quite well... if not wisely." I think this fits this scene perfectly and I think that the relationship of Spike and Dru is another good relationship because when they were together I think that Spike would have done anything for her so Darla's Sacrafice was just another example of how vampires can love.:: vampire
 
I was sad when she staked herself. I love Darla. I thought she was a lot of fun and with Drusilla, so funny.
She did what she had to do, proves to me she is a champion in her own right.
 
Could you imagine if Holtz didn't take his sweet a$$ time and actually got outside and saw Darla stake herself!! Maybe he would have not done what he did in later episodes ::huh1::
 
I had a good laugh, I never realised that was where her heart was.

Good point. Holtz may have realized that things had changed in the intervening years.

Then again, Holtz spent centuries waiting for the right moment to take his revenge. He wasn't there for all of the change. The murders of his family were still fairly fresh. The turning of his child was still fresh. I don't know if it would have stopped him. He may have hesitated, but once you have that much hate and revenge all revved up and ready to go, I imagine it's kind of hard to let something interfere.
 
I JUST finished watching this episode for the first time and I thought it was a wonderful end to the Darla storyline. I didn't really like her character much until these last few episodes of her being pregnant. I totally didn't see her staking herself coming, and I'm glad that she got to "die" as a hero. Also, I'm kind of in shock. Angel has a baby now! Didn't see that coming either.
 
It was nice. As a normal vampire she probably wouldn't have done it (could be wrong, we don't know how far vampire love can go), but I think somebody mentioned that she could act as if with a soul due to the human baby inside her. So it was great, she had this one moment of clarity, of thinking like a human being rather than a vampire, and did everything she could to make the situation right.

The closer Darla got to delivery, the more ensouled she seemed. She theorized, to Angel, that she was borrowing Connor's soul. If it was Connor's soul and not Darla's love for her offspring that caused her transformation, though, why did that not kick into effect earlier, back when she was trying to get rid of Connor? Why did it only kick into effect with the surge of hormones that occurs shortly before delivery?

Vampires can love, souled or not. Vampires from the house of Aurelius seem especially able to do so. I think Darla's explanation was wrong. I don't think she was borrowing Connor's soul. I think she was loving Connor.

Personally, I'm sorry Darla died. I don't see why her body, which had sustained Connor for 9 months, couldn't spit him out without killing him. I would have liked to have seen Darla be as surprised as anyone else when her love for Connor continued even after his birth. They say a child is always part of you. I'm no mother, so I don't know, but I would have liked to have seen that angle played out with Darla. I would have liked to have seen her "grow" a soul, if you will, through love of her son. They sort of did that story with Spike (through love of a woman), I know, but then they sort of ruined it when he went and won his soul. I would have liked to have seen that idea resolve itself - without any magical interference - in Darla.
 
Okay, I never got this whole Aurelius thing. What makes them so special? And the Master was part of it, but as far as I know he never loved.
Another question is how far this love for Connor would've lasted. I mean, Darla is still a vampire, without a soul, chip or anything else to stop here. If she's build up some real appetite, would she really care enough for Connor to not just eat him? Vampires are bad by nature.

I don't know. I don't think it was ever explained.

I don't know that, either, which is why I think the story would have been so interesting! Imagine if the prophecy was, instead, the MOTHER will kill the son? What if Darla's blood, the blood fed to an untamed vamp, had been spiked with Connor's blood? What if, when Jasmine came, there was an unsouled grandma vamp working with the team? Would Jasmine have had the same control over her? I think that would have been a truly interesting story. I do think Darla would have struggled with the whole "Why don't I just eat him?" thing. I'm really sad it didn't happen.

Actually that might mean that the human fetus isn't ensouled until a certain time in the pregnancy, presumably when a key part of the fetus is formed out sufficiently (be it brain, heart, or whatever). While that's not an opinion I would hold up, it agrees with the views of some religious thinkers over the ages.

I'm not fully sure of that. The Master's reaction to Darla getting staked seems - to me at least - to go beyond "I've lost my best soldier!" and into "That §$%&# killed my baby girl!"
 
I didnt think anything... My mind was literally blank, but now that I think back on it, I understand why she did it, not only to save her son, but so she didnt lose that love that she had for her child

Really, got that landscape face, thinking "gee, how could they?".. after all they killed my fav character xD

But, thinking, it was a beautiful way to end with de charc, Angel really looking at her (not killing with the eyes), the famous rain, and a noble act. MUCH better than a stake from some stupid that i´d hate for the rest of the show lol

Better than the death, is the dialog in the roof. That was just great!
 
Wow! I only just watched Darla sacrificing herself to save Connor and I think the speech at the end was one of the most poignant things I have ever heard! It truly brought a tear to my eye.

I very much doubt anyone else in Darla's situation would have undertaken such a selfless act.
