I hardly ever cry but that scene sent me over the edge. The speech she gave Angel sounded so much like one of lost hope only to turn it around at the last sentence before she kills herself. It was very sudden and powerful to off a main character so suddenly and the reason behind it gave it even more emotional depth.

It was the only thing that got Darla points from me. i was never a fan of her character, but i thought, well damn, that was noble. but still, no tears from me because i just never cared for her character. i actually wanted her plotline to be over (sorry Darla lovers,and i know there are a lot of you here!).

I thought Darla's death was one of the most noble ones done on Angel. To have such an evil and ruthless vampire sacrifice herself out of fright of herself and love for her unborn child wad very poetic. It showed that even though the soul Darla shared with Connor it was still a powerful conection and I think in a way it expressed what every mother to be in normal circumstances go through.

The fear of feeling like you won't be able to do enough to protect it and that love between mother and child is extremely strong. To see Darla suddenly stake herself and admit that Connor coming to be was the best thing she had ever done with Angel was so touching. If only Cordy's death had been just as poetic in different circumstances.
