DARLA’S THOUGHTS OF SUNLIGHT.

Darla was alone, she was bored at having nothing to do during the day.

Angel had gone to play three blind mice with his friends, the rats.

Spike was following a recipe for a pizza, it wasn’t that he was hungry but Spike did want to give Dawn a present. He tried to dice tomatoes but found that when the slices had been cut thin enough he couldn’t dice the slices. Then it occurred to him to lay the slices down and do it that way.

Darla found herself in the entertainments room, she was disappointed to find that the room didn’t do as it stated that she would have to provide the entertainment herself.

She put a dvd in the dvd player and sat back. After a few minutes she realised the room was doing as it was said to do, entertain her. Darla watched a documentary dvd and wondered how the reflected sunlight from the surface of the moon could be regarded as being magical. Or how a werewolf would only be a werewolf three days of the month when the moon was said to be full.

Darla failed to comprehend how anyone could conceive the possibility that the planet called the moon could fall apart and rebuild itself each month. Of how when the moon appeared to be full on one side of the world, on the other side of the world a person not be able to be a werewolf.

That night Darla found she was able to walk outside in the local fields though it confused her even though the sunlight was reflected from the moon, it caused Darla to think how it could cause something to be what she didn’t have, a reflection. Of how she could have something on her skin at night and not during the day: sunlight.

It caused Darla to consider that the sunlight on her was purely a psychological belief and that she could if she believed it as possible, too walk in the not-reflected sunlight during the day.
At the end of the night she stood where she knew the sunlight would reach her, she held her hand towards it. As the sunlight reached her it burnt her. Darla was confused at why it was so.

During the following day Darla watched a documentary about Scuba diving to a great depth, to see the fish that lived without ever seeing the sun. Darla was so bemused at how it was possible.

Learning that the Scooby gang were going to be at the beach the following day Darla decided to confuse them. Watching for them, when she saw them she walked from the water towards where they were sat. “Buffy, Willow, how are you,” said Darla and continued to walk away from them, trying not to grin as she walked to a shop.

Buffy stared incredulously at Willow.
“How did she do that?” she asked.
Willow agreed, “Why would she need air tanks underwater?”

Darla sat in the shop, she took off the wet suit that had protected her skin from the sunlight.

“Even if they could have realised about that I doubt they would understand why I was wearing the air bottles and breathing apparatus."

Darla wondered what documentary she could watch next.
