Tell me about it. I'm getting sick of these whiney Hollywood types always crying about wanting more money or how stardom is so hard.

Gimme a break.

I'd be all for a Viewer's Strike of Hollywood right about now. See how they like it when we stop spending our hard earned money on their crappy movies and satellite television.

Totally agree with those guys, some actors should try an underpayed office job once!

But, to be fair, there were some pretty big names on the list (DB being on of them...I mean, he was the main character in a show, and even though i don't watch Bones I did realize that apparently there he plays an important role as well), so probably not the ones that have to worry about money. I don't know how it pays to have only 'smaller' roles or not be too popular...maybe those guys really need some more money (or they are just horribly underpayed compared to other actors in dependence of how much screen time they each had).
 
This is not about big stars and more about those who do only occasional job i am sure. However, the timing is really really stupid for this currently. Strike for pay rise during economy problems is not really popular move.

Only a very few actors are "grossly overpaid." The vast majority, whether in Hollywood, New York, or anywhere else, have to have another job just to make a living. They rarely work as actors more than a few weeks out of the year.
 
This is really interesting to me. Given all the A-List names that have signed that pettition, and there are alot, it makes me wonder why more of their peers haven't followed suit. Like for example, why is DB there but not Emily Deschanel, his Bones co-star. There are many people notably missing from that list. I would think actors from the same show would be taking the same stance on this issue but from certain shows there's actors that have signed while others haven't. And I went looking around and I found on the SAG website the countering pettition for those that want a Yes vote on the strike: Solidarity Signatures. The A-listers are on top it seems like, while below there is a plethora of signatures from unknowns, which makes me think that the actors whom this strike would affect the most actually want it to happen. And if that is the case (although I agree with the other group that say now is not the time to be risking people's jobs) I have to wonder why they're pushing to wait on the strike. Actually, now that I think of it, those not wanting to strike right now are most likely not only thinking of those struggeling actors but also of the all the crews that would be out of work as well due to a strike, which fully makes sense and I think is so considerate. It intrigues me though the thought process of these actors to sign one pettition over the other.... And also there are a LOT of A-listers that are missing from both lists alltogether...
 
I agree with him. This is just not a time for a strike. Just look at what the last strike did. Charisma had to request for less child support payments I believe? And a lot of actors were barely scrapping by.

But I dont get that while we are in a bad economic state, NBC gives Jay Leno a new contract worth 40 million per year or whatever, and that radio guy (who critized womens basketball) is getting a raise for something like 30 million a year..

Plus lets not forget that if the actors go on strike, it shuts down production on movies and television shows which puts 100s (and thats being nice) of people out of work (movie/tv crews)

Why not? There had been plenty of strikes during the Depression (1930s). I think that many of the big name actors are against a strike because they and the rest of Hollywood don't want to deal with the same repercussions that followed the writers' strike. Frankly, I think they're being a bit cowardly since many of the lesser paid actors and actresses might end up losing big time.
