JOSS WHEDON'S SPEECH (from buffy.nu)
The birthday party, complete with cake, occurred on 4th December on the Wolfram & Hart set in Los Angeles.
Guests included Joss Whedon, David Greenwalt, David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, Amy Acker, Andy Hallett, Mercedes McNab, Sarah Thompson and Christian Kane.
Also in attendance was Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) who is returning for the 100th episode to wrap up her character's storyline.
After cutting a cake with the words "Angel 100" written in blood-red icing, Joss Whedon gave a speech.
"The idea of the show was redemption, and what it takes to win back a life when you've misused yours terribly," Whedon told the cast and crew.
"It's gone through a lot of different permutations. A lot of characters. A lot of different styles. But ultimately that has never left. Angel, to me, is so important, because it's about how an adult faces what they've done with their life, goes forward with it, overcomes it.
"These are things that have a great deal of meaning to me. Plus, awesome fights. And, you know, if I have any message for Americans, [it's that] you can solve problems through fisticuffs."
awww, this means cordy's gone for good? 🙁

Seems to me that Joss is getting back on the horse and really hiding his scripts again. Lately he has been adopting the creedo that 'if fans want to spoil themselves, let them do it'. I never liked it personally though, because sure enough someone always tells you a spoiler, either to impress you with what they know of the show, or just as conversation. This happens on forums, but it's even worse from friends that are fans. I'm glad he sprang that little surprise on us. It's the first time I've been completely unspoiled regarding a major plot twist in 1 and 1/2 seasons. And I loved it!
So I'm thinking, who knows if Cordy is really going to be back? Apperently, Mercedes and Christian had no idea they would even be on the show in advance, and even a regular cast member didn't get to read her script more than 1 week in advance. That makes me optomistic that Cordy may be back, and at the same time, it makes me optomistic even if she is not. At least it will remain a mystery!
