And not just smiling, big ass across the face GRIN.

I just watched the gag reel featurette on the last disc of S5. Probably 87% of it is shots of David grinning and otherwise goofing off. I never realized it, but he spends so much of his airtime being gloomy and broody that I almost, quite literally, didn't recognize a grinning David.

Weird.

The same thing could be said for Sarah. Over the 7 years of the show's run, she very rarely laughed or even smiled on camera, and most of the times that she did were in the earlier seasons.

I had never noticed that about Sarah, but I guess it's quite true. Less than David though. (Proof that Buffy and Angel belong together ? 😛)

I think David's smile makes him even more handsome. And since it's rare, it's always unexpected and has more impact. Gotta love Angel.

Ya that is true. He even seems broody whenever they have interviews on the set. He was very serious during those.

No, she stopped smiling in Season 3 when Angel CAME BACK. That's when she realized that the only way that she could get rid of Ol' Broody was to get Joss to give him his own show.
