Do you consider Dawn to be a core-Scoobie like Buffy, Willow, Giles, and Xander? Because all considered well, all Scoobies remember Dawn being there since s1 and she's been "involved" with what the gang has been doing to some extent before season 5.

I don't consider her to be a core Scooby, but I love her like one. 😉 Everyone treated her like a kid, so she was rarely included in anything they did, because it was so dangerous. But in season seven I think she was more of a core Scooby because she was finally included and got to help out with everything.

No I don't think she was, or really ever could be. It doesn't matter what she's been through, or what she's done. In the group, she's still Dawnie, Buffy's little sister to them. Xander seemed to be changing his opinion of her toward the end, but essentially, it was only the outer rim members like Spike, Anya, Tara, who didn't see her as the slayer's sister first, Dawn second. It doesn't reflect badly on the core group, it's difficult to overcome first impressions. Dawn was the brat sister watching from the stagelines. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

I think by season seven she was definately a core Scooby. Buffy was training her up and involving her in the actioon by this point rather than protecting her and hiding her away from the Big Bads. It was a gradual progression but certainly by the end of the show Dawn her earned her Scoobie creds!

I don't think you can become a "core" anything. She certainly wasn't one.
