Do you think that Dawn and Angel were friends?

I find it somewhat unlikely. Angel and Joyce were never much beyond the "acquaintance" stage, and she clearly, at least in Season 3, would have preferred that Buffy's feelings for him were somewhat less intense, and she would have been more likely to share her feelings than Buffy's, plus, by the time Dawn and Spike became friends, she would have almost certainly have picked up on his attitude toward Angel, and been more likely to judge Ol Broody based on the things that she learned from him.

So, my take is, at first based on Joyce's feelings, then later Spike's, Dawn and Angel were never friends in any sense of the word.

Hard to say. She did say that she felt Riley was better for Buffy than Angel ever was.

Then again, if she was as prone to getting herself in trouble as a kid as she was in later years, then chances are that she would have got to know Angel beyond Joyce's bad mouthing of him.

It's all speculation really, but I'm willing to wager that she had nothing against him.

I imagine Dawn would be a little freaked out by Angel. He's got no clue how to act in social situations. He sorta just stands there, and he's not very talkative. If Buffy ever brought him around to meet the family, it'd be so awkward. I think Dawn would be a little afraid of him. All just my guessing though.

Dawn was still a kid, maybe 9-11 years old, when Angel was around. Most likely she didn't know he was a vampire and Buffy a slayer until Joyce knew or even long afterwards. Also, I can't imagine him much around her, so she might have been pretty indifferent to him. Plus the fact that Buffy cried a lot over him may also have left a bad impression at Dawn.

So I agree with you. I don't think that Angel and Dawn were friends, or will ever be. She knew/met him, but didn't care about him or maybe hated him for hurting her sister (at least until she was old enough to understand what really happened then?).

Granted that Dawn wasn't really in existence then, no. LOL But apparently the monks altered everyone's memories, and in the memories, I can imagine Angel being very uncomfortable around Dawn since he would have remembered her to be very young, and maybe feeling awkward around Buffy's sister granted what he did to his own sister. I doubt they would have been buds.

Dawn probably has faux-memories of Angelus sneaking into her bedroom at night and drawing her or harassing her mom while the two of them had just come home from grocery shopping.

Yay.

Nah. I don't. I think Dawn was really too small to hang out with Angel.. I don't think Buffy was willing to drag her little sisters on her dates with Angel, and as we saw, he didn't hanged out in their house too often.

I wouldn't say so, I'd say when Angel went Angelus he would have done something to Dawn, and I'd say it'd be hard for her t forgive him.

I wouldn't say it has anything to do with Spike, we see Dawn and Spikes friendship evolve on the show, which means they weren't friends before it, which means Spike wouldn't effect Dawns opinion.
