Dawn the Vampire Slayer?

So as we know, Dawn thought she was a potential in season 7 for a bit. What do you think would have happened if she were another actual slayer though? Like as well as Buffy, maybe activated when Buffy died in The Gift?

Do you still think she would have been as annoying or would the responsibility change her?

I actually think she would have become overly confident. We saw what happened when she thought she was a potential, she went off thinking she could easily fight a vampire. She's alright, but she's no Buffy. I could definitely see conflict between Buffy and Dawn if that had happened, I don't think it would be good in the long run. Especially because Buffy was so protective of Dawn. I'm really glad it didn't happen, I never thought I'd say this - I prefer Dawn as a whiny teenager. Dayum!

I was too so so happy that she wasn't a potential after all. Throughout the episode watching I kept saying "I can't believe Joss would be so stupid, no one wants that to happen!"

I think it would have made a huge conflict between Buffy and Dawn. Because Dawn kept saying how much she doesn't care that Buffy was a slayer, and that she didn't deserve all she had just because she's a slayer. And I think Dawn WAS very jealous of Buffy. Even when she "found out" she was a potential she freaked out, but you can tell that she loved that "fact". She wanted to be a Slayer. Being noticed, powerful and not just the little sister. Maybe she even thought that that would get her friends and respect. No matter how much Dawn said she didn't care Buffy was a Slayer, no matter how much she said she was scared, she LOVED it! It was for a short while, but within that short while where she thought she was a potential, she felt that power. She felt like someone important. Now it will be her saving the world, getting many friends, boyfriends, popularity, etc. all that Buffy has.

Is it even possible for her to become the Slayer. Aren't Slayers chosen? I mean, Dawn wasn't exactly born as a human, despite everyone's memories.

But if she was one, I think she would be ass kicking one, because she would have best teacher in the world.. Buffy. Also, she wouldn't be able to be activated after Buffy's death, because Faith was still alive. I don't think they can change the rules just because she's was in jail.

I agree; I think Dawn would have become overly confident in her skills. As we saw in a few episodes, she likes to jump to conclusions when it comes to solving situations, so I think it would have caused her enormous problems as the Slayer.

I never really believed that Dawn was a potential, even though I really liked this episode. The idea that Giles would not have spotted her early and have her begin to train, I find a little far fetched.

That being said, I also think this would have created some serious problems between Dawn and Buffy, as most others have stated. I honestly think that Buffy would have been devastated by this news, because she knows exactly what it would mean if Dawn were ever Chosen, and that Dawn had become a target for the Bringers. I honestly don't think Dawn wanted to be the Slayer, because in her mind it would mean Buffy dying again. At the beginning of the episode when Buffy is talking to the potentials, Dawn keeps trying to help her with certain comments and Buffy barely notices that shes even their. So I think what appealed the Dawn was the idea of being a potential, of being included in that group. The idea of actually becoming the Slayer would be something I think she would try to avoid thinking about.
