Okay, I just got Season 5 on DVD. what is the deal with Dawn? i never exactly figured out where she came from. what's she doing here? or anything. could someone please help me?
 
Dawn is the Key. She was a mystical ball of energy which was used for opening the gateways between dimensions. Glory needs her to get back to her home dimension.

A bunch of monks transformed her into a girl and sent her in the form of a sister to the slayer, whom they knew would protect her. They altered the memories of everyone who knew Buffy to know that she had a sister.

That helps a WHOLE lot. she isn't evil is she? wait, that was a stupid question. it's the that one the ep where Glory appears. she acts sort of evil. like the way she talks and she just has that evil look and tone in her voice. like with the "You want some tea mom. I made it for you?"
 
No she's not evil 🙂 The Key is kind of ambiguous, but if she should fall into the wrong hands, the key could be used for evil.
 
oh. some guy just said that Dawn doesn't know what she is. and that she thinks she's buffy's sister. but in other eppies. dawn talks sometimes about how she doens't belong. and that she isn't real.
