How come dawn didnt become a potenial slayer . shouldnt she become one if her and buffy have the same blood. (where the monks made dawn out of buffy).

Or

where the monks made dawn out of buffy

Dawn - lives the life that buffy would have had

Buffy - the slayer (doesnt get to have the normal life that she would have)


Sorry if i have confused any (ive kinda confused myself lol)
 
Erm, I'm not too sure what you mean there, but about Dawn not being a potential, I don't think Slayerness is something that's hereditary or in the blood or something. True, when a potential becomes a Slayer, she gets all super powery, but its the girl, not her blood that becomes a Slayer. So whether Dawn was made out of Buffy's blood or not, she was still a different person and thus not a Slayer, or even a potential, if you get what I mean? (it's very late over here)

That's sort of true, and sort of not. In Fray, for example,
Melaka having a twin messed with the slayer magic
. So, there is some kind of genetic link in the whole "potential" pool, as by that point the line was back to one girl in all the world. The fact that Dawn had the "same" blood could have had an impact.

I think that her construction was the more important factor. The monks literally crafted her from the blood, choosing exactly how they wanted to make her. They evidently didn't want - or couldn't access - the Slayer traits: even the dreams.
 
^ I agree. The "same blood" doesn't mean that she is identical to Buffy. They're not twins, for one thing...they're quite different-looking. And their personalities are different as well. I think the monks needed something life-sustaining to create Dawn out of, so they chose Buffy's blood...but they still made a completely different, separate person from it. Accessing the Slayer powers seems to be a whole different process, one that the monks weren't interested in. They wanted to protect the Key, not make it a major target by making it a Potential/Slayer.
 
Slayers get called upon, it's their destiny.
It has nothing to do with, "It runs in the family."
 
If it were blood wouldn't Joyce be a slayer and her mother and so on?

That's why it couldn't work like that.
 
Well I think the arguement is that Dawn is more a clone than a sister. She wasn't born, she was 'made' from Buffy.
But you're right, bloods got nothing to do with it. The Slayer is Chosen.

I like to think of the "same blood" concept as like, someone who gets a bone marrow transplant, or a blood transfusion, or something. Technically, they have someone else's blood. But it doesn't change their DNA, who they are, etc etc.
