Dawson's Creek: General Discussion

Well, looky here. Another one of those "Dawson's CRACK" threads. 😛

More than likely extolling the virtues (or lack thereof) of the sainted Pacey.

Ahem, it's "Dawson's Creek". Not "Pacey's Creek". 😉 😛😛

Hey! That's my line! :P
I'd just like to say, I'm renaming it.

Pacey's Creek, it is!

Damn you, Dawson Leery. Damn you to hell!
I would go as far to say it is everybody but Dawson's Creek. I love him but not as much as the others the one thing I really loved about Dawson was his friendship with Pacey.

LOL. Everything just stems from Pacey.
LMFAO.

hahaha I love the ring of that. Now I can just see Pacey sitting on the dock with Jen like he first met her it would be as if Dawson never existed! JK :)

Ha, brilliant! So much better than Dawson's Creek!
Dawson/Joey or Pacey/Joey?

Neither! Joey and Eddie! 😀

I don't have time to say much but, Dawson hate makes me sad. Yeah he was a doofus in the earlier seasons but he's AWESOME in the later ones once he grows into himself a little bit.

Joey rules. Period.

(On a side note, Lyri, YOU are the reason I can't say very much right now because I can't believe you think Stefan/Elena are forced. I don't know who I ship right now but you still leave me confused! 😛)

You are my only ally in the defense of Dawson. :p

We...we...disagree on a ship? *GASP*

I don't like this. Not one bit.

I was waiting for you 🙂 I know how much you love Joey & Eddie.

I don't hate Dawson and you are right in the later years he got so mature. Yes he was a doofus but we all are at that age.

Don't get me wrong here, Kean. We still have some common ground. Let me elaborate: when I was younger I was all for Joey and Dawson. I rewatched it when I was at uni and realised Dawson was a grade A doofus during the earlier seasons with the love triangle stuff (although if I tried hard enough I could defend him). By the end I'm happy with the Joey/Dawson closure and I like Joey and Pacey together just fine. BUT I just loved the dynamic of Joey and Eddie. I loved his character, he was so conflicted and they challenged each other so much (which is why I can be happy about P/J because there are a lot of similarities).

Plus, Eddie was HOT. And he liked books. 😛

Marisa, the thing I loved about Dawson by the end was that he could recognise he was a doofus. It made him who he was by the end, hence he includes it all in his own show. On that note, did anyway else totally squee at the fact his show has the same music and titles? I loved that!

Eddie definitely was HOT! I still liked him and Joey even though I am Joey/Pacey all the way because of what you said.

Exactly he admits it and I can't hate him for that. If you can admit your problems you are one step ahead of the game in my eyes. I loved how they did that! I think it is time for a Dawson's Creek re-watch soon it has been a little while lol.

PS one of my favorite things about Dawson is when he basically steps aside and realizes that him and Joey are soulmates but not romantically. It took him a long time to do that and it was such a beautiful moment between them. You know I also loved Jen and Dawson 😛

One of my favourites too. It was sad for a while because, even though we didn't see it, they had been best friends forever and for a long time it seemed like they would never find their way back. But they did.

I didn't like Jen at all until about S3 so I didn't like them together in the early seasons but I loved it in season five. Jen was an amazing character once she became best friends with Jack. One of the best friendships ever.

Speaking of Jack, I watched the poem episode on Sony the other day and its still one of the hardest things I've ever watched on TV (aside from OTH shooting). And maybe the DC finale - I cry buckets at that.

Yes as well as him and Pacey. I was like gosh darnit we are going to solve this one way or another 😛

I always loved Jen but yes my love for her just grew when she became friends with Jack. Jack, Jen and Grams are as good as the Cohens from The OC and The Taylors from FNL to me.

I didn't like their relationship as much in season one. I loved it way more like you said in season five. I thought they both had been through a lot came far and were rather good together. Sucks what happened.

You are so right! I feel awkward watching the episode maybe that is not the right word because it is so intense. Like you feel like you are there in the classroom and like I want to stick up for him like Pacey at the same. OTH shooting episode and the finale of DC are right there with it. DC finale I think is one of the most emotional to me. I actually think Jack's storyline is one of the best told from a gay male perspective going through that in high school and later in life.

I'm bringing the thread back to life! Awaken, thread, awaken!

This. One of the best storylines. Kerr Smith is actually a really good actor.

I was just thinking that too, about the storyline that is. Glee and Kurt's story have been lauded from every angle but watching Jack's story it really was groundbreaking and thinking that it was happening 13 years ago really says a lot for DC.

Also, can I just give kudos to Mr. McPhee's storyline. I never saw it as a teenager watching but looking at it now as an adult, it really is a wonderful portrayal of a broken man and broken family who are killing themselves to get it "right".

Completely agree with everything you said there.
The show is a guilty pleasure for me, even if I never did finish the final season.

I must be in the minority that actually liked Dawson. He was actually the most decent person on the show. So what if James isn't that great an actor, Joshua is exactly the same in every role he plays. I call him Pacey Bishop on Fringe.

Once I realized that the show was all about Joey I lost interest. I was never a fan of her character. I remember her breaking up with Dawson because she wanted to "find herself" and discover who she was without being in a relationship... then she proceeded to quickly get with Jack. WTF?

And when she was being harassed by the mugger/rapist I just wanted to tell her to shut the hell up and not antagonize the guy with the gun.

In the later seasons she just got so much focus that I had to stop watching.

It shouldn't have really been called Dawson's Creek, as Joey was the only character to appear in every single episode. But I do like her, hated her in season one though. So bitchy to Jen. Pah.

Exactly and that is why I love Dawson's Creek. Jack's storyline was one of the best I will probably always say that for the fact of I haven't seen a show compare yet at least not on that level and with Mr. McPhee he played the storyline really well it is sad he passed away in real life.

I noticed that and lol I never hated Joey but I love Jen way more. That is why I like the few moments in season one where they actually get along.

LOL at Joshua always acting the same I don't think he does at all. I am going to look for that now. I thought he was very different from The Mighty Ducks to Pacey.

I love the moments where they get along too. Like when they're eating ice cream on Grams' front porch. I just wish they'd stay friends though, christ, what does it take for them to just get along?

Josh is definitely not the same in every role he plays. For example: Shutter, he plays a guy who lies about severely mistreating his past girlfriend to his then wife, the storyline gets more brutal but I won't go into it, I recommend watching it though. He's a complete ass in that movie. Nothing at all how he played Pacey.

I saw that in theaters yes he was very different alright.

Well, in Fringe and Dawson's Creek he uses the same tones, mannerisms, inflections, etc. I don't mind, I love both characters. I'll try to find other stuff he's been in to see if his acting is different. I hear Shutter sucked though, so I'm not looking forward to watching that one.

I haven't really watched Fringe, I'm planning to soon so I'll get back to you about his acting, for sure. 🙂

As for Shutter, it's a remake and those don't usually go too well for me personally. However, I really enjoyed this one. It's not perfect, but I've seen some horrible remakes, and this isn't one of them. Take it from me, it didn't suck, and Josh is great.

Anyone have any particular favourite DC episodes?
