Dawson's Creek

I used to watch two episodes a day, everyday during the summer when I was in high school. I love that episode where Pacey and Joey get stuck in like KMart or Target or whatever it was.

Yeah love that ep, it was a 'Career Opportunities' reference episode, good movie.

yeah it was meant to be, they even say that right. and do the running and skidding around the halls, and the shooting hoops. Topless Pacey....

Not wishing to go all Dawson oh you all. I do have an episode, the one about the Blair Witch Project documentary.

Some thoughts of S3 -

As I re-watch the show, the more I realize how much I can identify with Dawson. With the desire to want to dissect, define, and overanalyze everything in an attempt to understand what has gone awry. I can relate to his idealism, how he wants everyone to be happy, even at the expense of his own. I can relate to his love of movies, of fiction, and his rejection of reality. When I was watching the show when it aired, I don't remember ever being able to identify with him. I always loved Jen and Jack the most. Joey seemed self-righteous and uptight to me. Pacey was always just there, you know? Now, as I re-watch it, I find myself Identifying with the completely opposite characters. Weird how that works.

I felt Dawson was unfair to Pacey regarding what went down between Joey, him and Pacey. Dawson was willing to rebuild his relationship with Joey, but he never let Pacey off the hook. He never really forgave him and as a result, their relationship was never the same. He acted that it was all Pacey's fault, he didn't want to seem to acknowledge that Joey had her part in all that happened. It seemed like convenient denial on Dawson's part - It was easier for him to believe that Pacey took advantage of her in her "vulnerable" state then to accept that she wanted Pacey more than him. I felt like if he was willing to forgive her, he should have forgiven Pacey too.

Season 3 is definitely the best season. It has 'The Longest Day' and 'Escape to Witch Island', and of course 'The Anti-Prom' which as far as I'm concerned, are all great episodes TV-wise.

Really, I love this show. I really do. It's sharp and smart with a lot of heart. But I'll stop blabbing, I want to hear what you all think.

What are everyone's favorite characters/season/'ships?

I could, and still can totally relate to Dawson and his personality too. I could then because I was the same, and I still can because it's something I recognise myself as doing when I was younger. I was forever going over and over things in my head.

And, similarly, I agree about Dawson's attitude towards Pacey. He never cut him any slack, which is something I only realised when I watched it again a bit older.

Favourite characters? I've always loved Jack. For so many reasons! I love Jen and Grams in the later seasons too. But I think overall, Joey is my favourite. She just had it all, as far I was concerned. She was so moral and had such a strong set of beliefs but I never found her to be narrow-minded or forceful with them, she just knew who she was and I liked that.

And my favourite ship has got to be Joey/Eddie. 😛

And as for season, like Buffy, it's a tough call between 2 & 3. But 4 is awesome too!

On a side note, one scene that ALWAYS makes me cry like a baby, is the last episode of season 1 when Joey goes to see her dad. That whole speech 'I'm 15 years old and feel like no one loves me', oh man, I cry and cry. 😛

I like Joey, too.
Well as for how they talked, I felt it was a bunch of old writers who hadnt chatted to a teenager in forever who wrote it... except Pacey I guess sometimes.

Pacey and Joeys relationship is my fav but I do love Dawson/Jen/Joey in season 1, and watching a doe eyes innocent Dawson chase after Jen.
awwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I agree with Dawson's treatment of Pacey, i dont know ep titles but at the end of some episode its so sweet when all Pacey wants is to know that somewhere in the future there is a chance of friendship between him and Dawson. Oh and the beach party where Dawsons spent all summer with Jen, Jack & Andi and Pacey and Joey were on the boat... the awkwardness of Pacey and Joey at the party, and a shot of Dawson acting cool and calm with Joey, til he goes out of her sight and he's totally devestated (plus a brick wasnt going to make up for it)

Andi was an awesomely neurotic character, and her pet project Pacey and their relationship was very touching. So very sad when she cheated on him 🙁

If I'm still awake at 3am I'm gonna put on season 5 and carry on where I left off months ago... honest I will!!

I loved Dawson's Creek so much. I hope one day to own all the boxsets. Or at least the first 3 because they were my favorite seasons.
My favorite character was Jen, because I think I relate to her a lot, especially in the early seasons when she was a bit screwed up lol.

Did anyone watch Young Americans by any chance? I loved that too. It only got one season which was a shame.
I LOVED this show and was so, so sad when it ended.
This show kinda turned me. Well, I was watching this show when I started being a little confused about my sexuality, after seeing Kate Moennig in this show...let's just stay I stopped being confused and was very sure of what I wanted 😛

Wait what?! Kate Moenning was on DC?! What episode?! Tell me, tell me NOW!!!

I was gutted it didn't get another season. All of the characters were awesome! And those voiceovers? I live my life by them! ;p
Yeah he was either 15 or possibly even 14 when that whole affair with Ms. Tamara Jacobs went on... when it first aired I didn't think much of it but now its like holy cow, that some serious Mary Kay Latourneau shit and it was dealt with kinda casually on that show in hindsight.

I love me some Dawson's Creek and I'm fairly certain Pacey and Joey will never be bumped from my top 5 fave ships of all time list. Seasons 2 and 3 are probably my favorites purely because they are the most Pacey/Joey heavy, lol, god i'm such a fan girl. I do own all 6 seasons, although the last two left quite a bit to be desired of... except the series finale, they hit that episode completely out of the ballpark, it is amazing and quite possibly the most I cry during an episode of TV ever.

Also I'd like to stick up for poor Audrey, I actually really liked her, she was the perfect contrast that Joey needed in a college roomie and she brought a sense of never serious fun that I think the show really needed and she was the only other person I could tolerate Pacey with besides Andie and Joey. But I did have a Busy Phillips bias cause i loved her from Freaks and Geeks 🙂

Also Jack and Jen will forever go on the TV history books for me as the best TV BFF's EVER.

Jack and Jen were awesome. I hated Jen before this friendship!
Joan the Vampire Slayer

Agreed. Jack and Jen were great. And Pacey/Joey are one one of my fav ships ever, too ;)
I would rank the MAIN characters as:

Jen
Pacey
Joey
Andie
Jack
Dawson

Jen kinda annoyed me in the beginning of season two, and Dawson usually annoys me in general. 😛

Wanted to add that I really wasn't a big Jen fan until they voted her head cheerleader and she went with it and became the anti-cheerleader rebel and the other cheerleaders ate it up so hardcore they were all soon after wearing fishnets and Doc Marten boots with their cheerleader outfits, LMFAO. after that there was no denying my uber Jen Lindley love

season 2, Abby is a biatch, but it's quite sad the way she dies, everyone is like 'THANKGOD'.

I actually starting liking this show when they started to play it on TBS.. They would play it really late at night and really early in the morning and I watch it before I went to sleep/getting ready for work!

Thought Dawson was the worst character on the show. My favorite was Audrey and I have to admit once they hit college I was in love with Joey.
