DB on Batman Begins ?

I have a question and I would like to have your thoughts : I have heard that David Boreanaz was to play the role of Batman on Batman Begins and apparently he refused ! If it's true, it seems to be a bad choice for me ^^
 
I never heard that. I doubt it's true just because DB isn't exactly an A lister. He's great, but not A lister material in my opinion. Bale is the superior actor, and is a more recognizable name.

But if it is indeed true, I also think DB should have taken that opportunity.

Yeah I did search me too and some sites say there was rumors and others seems to believe he refused the role, so I got confused and I just wanted to know if someone here knew something 🙂.
In all cases, he made the casting and was among the actors envisaged.
 
He spoke about it in an convention though. I just can't find it right now... I think there's some legitimacy to it, which doesn't mean that he was almost offered the part, but I think it was on the table for him.
 
I think if he had done it he'd be more typecast in that role. Since Bale is more well known he went and did other work without big Bruce following him around.
 
He definitely has that dark brooding Batman look down, but there's the age-old saying that "Any publicity is good publicity", so I can understand his publicist/agent perhaps making something like this up to make DB 'more appealing' for other roles.... 😉

I mean you're casting a show or a movie. Do you want this random guy, or do you want someone who was in the running to play Batman? 😀
 
For some reason I just can't seriously picture him speaking with "Batman voice", can't really picture him as Batman at all, truth be told.
 
The "Batman" franchise has been somewhat successful, but it hasn't really been a platform for launching stellar careers. For that matter, of course, the same could probably be said for the entire superhero genre. Also, David is definitely a small screen personality, with only two specific roles to hang his star on. Frankly,without a kick ass female costar (coincidentally titular character in two cases) he seems hard put to carry the action by himself. Even "Angel" was, arguably, as dependent on his main female costar, Charisma, as anything that his own character produced. If she had stayed for Season 5, in my opinion, there might actually been a Season 6. Maybe he was just holding out for the "Catwoman" movie, when he could share the action with some hot costar. Eliza Dushku, maybe?

Come to think of it, they could team up for the TV series when "Bones" finally cashes in its chips.
 
I can't see him as Batman. I may be biased because I adored Christian Bale in the role, but I just don't think DB has what it takes. Can you imagine him playing opposite Heath Ledger? I can't...There are some big names in Nolans Batman movies and seriously good actors..IMO. I just don't think DB is up to par. Not to mention, and this is really shallow, but by 2008 DB was definitely showing his age . To me anyway.
 
Yes, I could totally see Boreanaz as Batman. He would have a good Batman; probably better than Clooney was, to be honest. But he would have not been right for Nolan's Batman.

I've always ADORED him as Angel, but that's about it. To be completely honest, I don't think he could carry a big budget film based on his acting talent. In fact, I'll go even further; if the show (Angel) hadn't been blessed with such kick ass writing, I doubt we'd be discussing him that much today.

David was mildly entertaining in Buffy...though he definitely wasn't in the same class as Sarah or Allyson! I've never been tempted to watch Bones, so in my heart, he will always be Angel. The dark avenger. The vampire with a soul. Period.

On a more personal note...over the years, I've found him to be a bit overbearing and full of himself in interviews. Sure, I might grudgingly accept that behaviour from an actor if they're extraordinarily gifted, but if you're an average schmuck who just happened to luck out with your own show...hey, cool your jets buddy. Show some gratitude (you massive prick!) because if it wasn't for Joss Whedon, you'd still be waiting tables.

Wait, what were we talking about? 😛 Guess I got a little wrapped up in the moment. Oh yeah! Batman. So, uh...no. He wouldn't be any good in it. Because whenever he'd do his "emotional" face, I'd expect him to say, "Oh, Buffy!" Yeah, okay. I'll stop now. 😀

Seeley Booth is no Angel (totally different characters), I can tell you that. Beyond the redemption thing (which doesn't dominate Booth and usually crops up like once a Season if that) they don't have much in common, except that they look eerily similar.

I agree. Ledger would've wiped the floor with him. DB works better as part of an ensemble in my opinion.
 
If he had got the role then he wouldn't have done Bones. Cause Batman Begins was filming after Angel embed and before Bones started. I think DB is a big Batman fan so I don't think he would turn down the role by choice. He probably auditioned and either didn't make the cut or had to drop out of the running due to scheduling conflicts. But I agree, I can't see David playing Batman, but the Nolan movies. Maybe something line Val Kilmer in Batman Forever. Lol.
 
You need a guy who is like a singer for a rock group: someone who just grabs your attention and you can't look away from him. David Boreanaz has evolved into a decent actor who still has some limitations, but he will never be the kind of attention-getting rockstar who could carry the lead in "Batman". He is a bit too placid for that. You don't get the sense of focus, concentration and abruptness needed for Batman.
