Does anyone else but me think that David overacted as Angelus in S4?

he was way more annoying then he was in S2 of Buffy IMO.

What do you guys think.

I think David Boreanaz plays Angelus perfectly. He has so much fun, you can tell he loves playing the character.

If there was one thing David Boreanaz did right during his time in the Buffyverse it was playing Angelus. He was brilliant.

I would venture to say his stint in Angel S4 wasn't as good as Buffy S2 but I think that has more to do with the storyline than the acting.

David did a FABULOUS job as Angelus. Ican't imagine anyone better suited for the job. angelus is the main reason why he's one of my fave actors! he can be the brooding, but gentle Angel but also the dark and evil Angelus! very talented I would say 😀

I must say, being mildly anti-angel, his appearance or acting didn't really bother me. He's a great actor and he did a lovely job. Nothing different or special, imo.

nope i dont think he over acted at all, how would you feel if you got to switch to a character like that? he looks like he is having a total BLAST! love Angelus...(mostly when he smacked Xander when he was pretending to be Angelus)

Actually Rach, he did over act, he also add-libbed a lot during S4 and that came from Amy Acker.
I think that Angelus was by far the most interesting of the two identities, and David seemed to have a whole lot more fun playing him. After a while (usually about 10 minutes for me) Angel just got plain boring and totally predictable. With Angelus, there was never any telling what he would do, but you could be sure that he was having a ball doing it.

I though DB was at his best as Angelus especially s2, and Soulless. You could almost see DB improve as an actor as the series went on.

That is why the addition of Spike in the final season was such a reward, because it DID create a more interesting Angel. He could play to his strengths more, which was the sulky, feeling hurt Angel.

I thought Angelus in this season was eh. He's one of my most beloved baddies in Buffy, and was amazing in season 2 of btvs... but really lost his edge i think in season 4 of Ats. More funny, witty angelus, less scary. I found him somewhat less of a threat i guess in this season and so, not so much of an impact.

I don't think it was overacting as much as it was trying to make an obvious distinction between Angel and Angelus. I think he did a very good job and portrayed the character well.

i think DB did a great job acting between angel and angelus period!

whenever i watch him as one or the other i am always amazed at you wouldn't no it was the same person acting (if that makes any sence?)

i think he did a great job and there may well have been issues in the series but DB overacting as angelus not one of them! in my opinion any way
