DB Overacted As Angelus?

This is somewhat true because he didn't really care much about the whole "destroying the world" shtick like in Buffy Season 2, did he? Nor did he have someone "who had to die for making him feel human". He was just plain, Earthly evil, more or less like he would have been in the previous centuries.

Cage scenes reminded me often of Hannibal the Cannibal psychoanalysis type of thing, but overall, very nice.
 
I think DB played Angelus to perfection. Who can forget after "Awakening" at the end when Angelus wakes up and Team Angel realizes it's him. Angelus just laughs and the screen goes to credits as his laugh continues. Freakin' Scary, man. DB has a great sinister laugh. His scenes with Team Angel and his "Hannibal Lector" scenes were chilling. What I love best about Angelus though is that he has a sinister sense of humor...and quite clever too. "Banging the mom and wanting to kill the dad... ... ... there should be a play." haha. Just how he taunts Wesley and Fred and Gunn was worth his return alone. Angelus was also a loose cannon and DB had a blast playing him.

One of the fav. Angelus scenes: Watching the fear of Angelus when he has to re-live the memory of Angel saving a puppy in "Orpheus." haha. "no. I can't do this again. no!"
 
I don't think David overacted i think Angelus needed to stand out rom all the other characters becuase he'd be built up so much in the seasons.
I did however prefer David portrayal of Angelus in season 2 of Buffy,he was more witty and scarier for me and i just love his scenes with Drusilla and his evil grin!. I have to say i was looking forward to the Angelus episode very,very much in ATS and i really raced through the seaosn just for them episodes,but they were a let down.
I just didn't get the feeling Angelus was at his baddest and most evil, i felt like he was just waiting to get going with all the boring talking and posturing i love Angelus witty one liners and i didn't really see that alot (maybe i should go back and re-watch....). But i really,really liked the evil laugh in the cage when his eyes opened that made me think Angelus was back..but it was a let down.
 
Maybe the extreme difference between how David plays the character's two personalities makes the Angelus side seem to be over acting. I mean, really, compared to Angel, with all of his brooding and self imposed solitude, especially in the earlier seasons of his own show, a trapdoor spider is a party animal.
