Does anyone else watch Dead Like Me? It's on Showtime in the US where the first season has finished, and it's up to the 7th episode in the UK. I've seen the first 9 eps so far, and it's absolutely excellent. Very funny, moving and extremely intelligent, from what I've seen so far it looks like it could be a worthy successor to BtVS! Although of course no show will ever truly be as good as Buffy...

I saw the pilot. I looked like it might have potential, but could go either way. I'm not sure how the show evolved, but the main character was much too cheerless and nihilistic for my tastes in the epp I saw. Of course, being newly dead doesn't tend to inspire most people to leap up and click their heels together, but that girl was far too dour and apathetic for my tastes. Apathy isn't exactly a compelling trait to watch, but if the story arc involved her being drawn out of her apathy and learning to interact & care about the world, that woud be kickass.

I think the makers of the show realised that she had to be less apathetic and utterly depressed to make her a more relatable and likable character, and they definitely did as in following episodes she is way more entertaining and less emotionless. It's definitely worth watching, as her evolution just throughout the 9 episodes I've seen is remarkable.

yay 😀 go foi. how many eps have you seen? which is your favourite?? so far mine is Reaping Havoc, the one where Betty leaves, but i love them all really. Reapercussions is also soo funny, the one where Mason has those drugs stuck up his ass! heeheehee!

Isn't this the series that's about the same thing Tru is? ... Sorry, don't know much about it, can anyone summarise?

I watch it,George got killed by a toilet seat(lol) now she's a grim reaper, and she has to separate the souls from the bodies before they die..its a very funny show!

I've seen EVERY episode. I loved one of the last ones with a whats his name... The old guy and the cook! you know Georges mentor dude? That ep made me cry.

I laugh in almost every episode, its a great show! don't like the new chick as much as I did the last one.

Hey anyone heard the song Boom Boom Ba by Metisse? Its in all of the sadder/glomier episodes, but then again it is a 'dark comedy'.

Just dl the song under your player.

that song is awesome! it was used to absolutely amazing effect in Reaping Havoc, when Betty left. Aww, poor George. At least she still had that frog 😀

Very funny show. I'm lovin' it lots. Excellent with the dark humour and such...I read today in Dreamwatch that it had been renewed for a further several (forget the exact number) eps.

The first season only had 14/15 eps, but according to SpoilerSlayer it's been renewed for a full second season! Yay!!

Also, how cool and freaky are the gravelings?!? Eeeek.
What do you think of Daisy? She really annoyed me when she first showed up but now I think she's hilarious. I love the way she always called George "Georgia" and her vocal excercises in Sunday Mornings....heehee!

I love this show, sooooooooo much.

George I felt was a drip in the first episode, but now I love her, she get's fitter every episode too.

It is just so funny, it sure is a class show. I can' wait till next Friday 2 episode's for the price of 1. 🙂 🙂 🙂

OMG, I finally know what that song is, thanks ever so much. I so wanted to know I love it.

Best Quote is from Joy when she see's Reggie's toilet seat tree, haha.

I'll find a summary for the first episode, and hopefully that will explain it, I don't know how to put it.

_ _ _ _ _

The series begins when a young woman is killed by a piece of the Mir space station hurtling to earth. She discovers that the afterlife does indeed exist, where she has been assigned a job as a 'Reaper.' It's her job to reap the souls from the living and guide them to their eternal reward. Besides coping with her new job, she must learn to deal with being young and starting out - and of course, being dead.

Um Canada and the U.S. around 9:00pm (or 8:00pm) on the movie station?

The show is about Grim Reapers who go about taking peoples souls right before they die, so they don't have to suffer. George became one by getting killed by a toilet seat from a russian satiliette (spelling). Anyway george not liking what happened is still trying to deal with it and has cause MANY problems for 'The old Guy' I don't remember his name. Murry? Manny? I don't know. Anyway they work in groups and get assignments to go get the peoples souls. But these deaths are kind like 'Final Destination' deaths. They're outragous!

hope this helps a bit, I;m sure Lilah can summerize it better.

omg when he had those drugs that was amazing so darn funny...and when george found out they could hitch a ride she was so upset...her new flat mate winds her up which makes her even funnier...

im looking forward to finding out who the main man is trying to pull as he keeps making dinner for a dead thing that gives him his instructions...

I know me too. I loved the part where he stops at his door and reads the note, then hurries out and yells 'What the **** is your problem?' at whoever left the note. That was great! Still what is his name?

I could find out the exact episode I;mtalking about and his name but I;m to lazy.

allycat, it's basically about a girl called George who is really apathetic and just bored with her whole life. She gets killed by a falling toilet seat from a russian space station and is recruited to work as a Grim Reaper- she has to collect the souls of people just before they die. We also see the troubles of her family that she left behind - her mother, father and weird little sister Reggie, who is having problems coping- she collects dead birds and hangs toilet seats on tree branches. There are loads of hilariously weird deaths and great dialogue, the characters are fantastic, especially the other Reapers like (drug addict slacker) Mason and (slighty psychotic, asskicking) Roxy. www.deadlikemeonline.net is a good site.
