Cordy's death, as I had so much emotional investment in the character, and made me furious with JW for the shoddy way CC was treated.

Honestly, the arc of season4 and JW treatment of the characters ruined the whole series, and it definately jumped the shark at that point - it was less about the characters and more about JW powertripping.

Joyce Summers-- Hit hard and made for an emotional episode but i was more concerned with how people treated the death than the death of Joyce herself

Tara Maclay- Again, very emotional, but very quick. I always saw tara as a character that could die and so it never hit me too hard. Willow's response was much more influential than the death itself

Buffy Summers (please specify)- Her death in the gift (for which i voted) was the most influential death of the series. The way it influenced EVERY SINGLE character of the show is completely undeniable. I mean, we have a full 2 seasons of evidence of the influence in which both Buffy created and the influence of her death.

Jenny Calender- Ive posted this before but this is a character that a lot of people connect to. IMO its unfistified, her character is never developed, her relationship with Giles is rushed, and even the reactions of other characters seem out of place when comfronted with her death. See: Buffy grabbing her neck in one eppy then crying in dispair over her death in another. She was important to the series, but I really had to work at caring about her, which doesnt result in an epic death. I felt almost nothing with Angel snapping her neck, it was like it was written from day 1.

Angel- is a vampire. He's dead already. The various deaths and tribulations which angel faced left little impression on me. He's one of the weakest characters of the buffverse mascarading as an unbeatable hero. From various pedofile stalking actions to numerous ensouled deed's, I have little respect for angel.

Winifred Burkle- Knowing where Joss was talking S6 with Illeyria becoming Fred every day made this less hurtful. Sure, shes an integral part of the angel team but I dont think i was ever upset at her death.

Wesley Wyndam Pryce- I would have wanted him to live sure. But it seems that in the Jossverse of A:ATF, no character is dead.

Doyle- Hardly a character. Its like arguing over Jesse in the pilot. He's dead, hes collateral damage of an early episode.

Spike- ...is alive.

Cordelia Chase- Died as a hero. I never saw Cangel as a realistic relationship so this death of Cordy made sense. It made characters stronger while proving that cordys whole existance wasnt in vain (ie...Jasmine)

So...

My reasoning for why Buffy is the influential death is because of how Buffy's death affected everyone. With all the other deaths, the collateral damage was minimal. Buffy on the other hand forced S6 and S7 to be a very different(and great imo) show.

If you would have made this comment about anything else, I would have agreed with you, but damn it, I just can't agree with you here.

The shows budget was tight as it was, so actually I support the decision to write out a character who wanted full pay for the season but couldn't commit and season 4 is one of my favourite story lines.

Godsdammit - why couldn't you have said that about another thing, I would love to have agreed with your 'JW powertripping' comment, as many here will attest.

As I said, with Jenny, its not her actual death but how Angelus sets it up and the Giles reaction (which I think is totally believable being they've had a year of getting to know one another) and I do think that the reactions of the other characters is appropriate.
This was someone they knew, someone that had helped them. They may have fallen out but they weren't enemies, she wasn't a villain PLUS you have the added effect that she was the girl for Giles ADDED to the fact she was killed by the man that Buffy loves.
