Dammit...Well I'll make it easier: Death is your gift

"Let me go."

"No!" Dawn screamed and held her grib tight in Buffy's arm.

Buffy struggled, and reached for the razorblade. Dawn noticed, and used her foot to kick t away.

"Buffy stop!"

"Let go of me Dawn!" Buffy tried to push Dawn away.

"WILLOW!" Dawn shrilled with her tears running.

Sound of footsteps, quickly coming, made Buffy slap Dawn. Dawn released Buffy, and screamed as she held her hand to her cheek. Buffy crawled over the bathroom floor, searching for the little razorblade. Where had it gone? Then she heard a loud gasp, and as a reflecs, she turned her head.

"Buffy"¦?" Willow looked at Dawn, then Buffy, and Buffy's wrist.

"Will"¦" Buffy said painfully. "Just"¦.please let me do it." She began to tear up.

The pleading eyes stared at Willow, but it didn't help. Willow grabbed Dawn, and told her to call an ambulance. When her eyes met Buffy's they were lightning.

"Jeg befaler dig Sov!" She chanted, and her eyes were holding Buffy's.

"Will." Buffy complained. "What?" She shook her head, and yawned.

She was tired, but not like this. She was tired of life, and how everything fell apart. Not tired, like she needed to sleep. And yet, she closed her eyes and fell the darkness surround her. Willow bit her lip, and felt sick. How could this happen? Then she heard Buffy mumble, what she had heard a few times before. Death was her gift.

Buffy got in the car, and waved to Dawn. Driving Dawn to the mall was so...normal. Being back in California was nice. She had gotten a new house, she was living with Dawn, and Willow, and had gotten a more steady life. Defeating Twilight had made her realize how much she wished she was out of the slayer line. And they had supported her. Made her feel like it was alright to stop, and all had tipped in to give her and the others a little house. Little. Just like Dawn. Back to normal. She smiled. Dawn was eager to get new clothes, and not worry about stepping on a cow. Buffy nodded slowly, and turned the car key.

"Buffy!" Dawn came running back.

"Something wrong?" Buffy got tense.

"Yes.." Dawn opened the door.

She gave Buffy a hug, and smiled.

"Thank you."

Buffy glanced at Dawn disappearing trough the entrance to the mall, and then drove out of the parking lot. She looked at the clock on the radio, and sped up. She had to go get Willow at the park.

"Ooh, music!" She exclaimed happily, and pressed the ON button.

""¦with 70 tadpoles? Wow that's just crazy Ted. Well we'll get back soon, but now we'll put some songs on for all of you out there. Here she is, again, Memor Y with her hit demo Where are you."
Buffy turned the car, and listened as the music started. Quite a catchy tune. She hadn't heard it before, so she turned the music on.

"Sometimes time stands still
And I hear your voice.
I should never have let you go,
now in the middle of the quiet noise.
I want to let you know,
I miss you.
Time stood still and it still does,
I miss touch and your smile,
Where did you go
Please come back for a while
and I'll never let you go...again

But you are gone,
Far away from me.
Where are you,
Come back to me...."

Buffy turned off the radio, and hit the breaks. Luckily she was the only one on the road. Holding tight to the wheel, and held her breath. The lyrics were so"¦ She looked out the window, and closed her eyes. It just came back to her, and overwhelmed her. It hurt. Who had she been fooling? She wasn't happy at all. No house or car could change that. Angel had died before, and he was technically dead all the time. Her mother had died and she never had her chance to say goodbye. And Spike"¦ Spike had given his life for the world. Death"¦was her gift.

------------------------------------------------------

"How is she?" Dawn reached the cup of coffee to Willow.

"She's still sleeping." Willow looked into the cup.

"That's"¦.good. Right? I mean, if you let her keep sleeping sh-"

"I didn't do anything. She should have woken now. Doctors gave her something fancy doctory thing." Willow kept looking into the cup.

"Oh"¦" Dawn sat besides Willow, and stared at her feet.

The sound of nurses, doctors, and patients running around had disappeared. Willow and Dawn heard nothing. Dawn tried to keep her tears away, by focusing on her shoes. Willow stared into the black coffee looking at her tears blending with the coffee as they dropped.

""¦How could she?"

"Huh? What?" Willow looked up.

Dawn had gotten up, and stood in front of Willow with tears all over her face.

"Hocould she? If I hadn't barged in, she might have..I'd be all alone." Dawn said as she was shaking.

Willow got up, and put her arms tight around Dawn, while she whispered to Dawn.

"You'd have me."

For the first page of a short story or a novelette that's pretty good Rachel, I'd like to read more.

Oh, and if you have the time to spare, I'd very much like you to read and possibly comment on my Spike fan fiction... see the link below the Union Jack 🙂
