Maybe, but it finally made my mind up about Sawyer/Jack. I'm no longer sitting on the fence. I'm sitting on Sawyer. Just push strawberry shortarsecake outta the way.

And I'm not entirely sure Lynch knew what he was writing in TP. I think he just made it up as he went along. JJ Abes seems to be following suit, just buying time.....

And shoot the cats. They breed like rabbits anyway. Well, cats, but you get my drift. The peeing isn't the prob. It's the Whiskas flavoured walnut whip turds left on your lawn for your labradors to eat at 6am that get up my ass.

On the Joss influence, I have to say that when I watched Torchwood, I did feel a kind of influence present, until I remembered something else.
I remembered a show he wrote some years ago, Dark Season.
It was a kids show, but very mature and, I have to say, similar in tone and storytelling as Dr Who and Torchwood.
Add to that a show he also did called 'Revelations' I don't actually think you could give a great argument for RTD being influenced by Joss.

Even his show, Queer as Folk shows RTD's penchant for the seedier and darker side of existence. The more I think about it, the less I'd be inclined to say there was an influence of any kind as RTD's dark works predate Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie by over a year.

I gotta say, I enjoyed alot about the 6 episodes of the season, BUT one thing I really didn't like was how long it seemed to take.
The storylines seem to be stretched to cover the 'mini season'. At the very least I wanted Locke and co standing on the edge of their Island looking at 'The Others' island preparing to go across.

And don't get me started on Eko and the Smoke.
What I liked about Lost was that although there were elements of fantasy, it never had anything that couldn't have, someway, a real world explanation.
In the Episode with Eko and the Smoke, it crossed the line to pure fantastical, and honestly, I don't know if I want that.
 
There's been speculation about the smoke being nano-swarms, wacky stuff like that. I dunno. I feel like I don't even have enough info to be incredulous. I'm just impatient, annoyed...
 
I think the show would be very disappointing if they attempted to explain everything in a scientific way. I mean, it's just more entertaining to have small elements of the supernatural. And besides, Felicity and Alias both touched on the supernatural (Felicity to a much lesser extent according to the episode guides I've read), so I don't know why this Abrams show would be any different.
 
It's got the psychic thing going on (apparently). It's been sort of treading the line between fantasy, sci-fi the whole time, seems like...
 
But there are lots of theories that nothing fantastical is truly going on. But those theories had better be wrong. 😉
 
abortion is not a topic i would vote on debating. it usually gets you no where but frustrated...or banned...(but thats a CoA story only a few of you would even understand)

I think it would be a good idea to pick Teentitan's brain about the UN. It seems to be kinda broken at any rate. A good idea in theory, as a forum for discussion maybe...but the peacekeeping, humanitarian track record seems kinda spotty...

As much as I appreciate the compliment GB the UN is a subject that I would prefer not to participate in. It is not the same organization I worked for. The ideal it once was is no longer because of the slow methodical destruction of said ideal by the bureaucrats.
Just because an individual has a university education does not give them licence to dictate what is good/important to the rest of us. Sometimes a person not in posession of a post secondary education has a degree in 'life experiences' which outweigh the academic degree. Sometimes these individuals know from first hand experience what works and what does not work but these bureaucrats choose to ignore us because we lack the education to know what is right in their opinion.
If some of you wish to learn how the UN ideal has fallen off the tracks google Salim Mansur and read his articles he wrote for the Toronto Sun in December 06 about the UN.
I guess for not wanting to get involved in this topic my answer was pretty involved...damn you GB, lol.

Regarding the smoke, if what I suspect is true then it won't disappoint you in the end, BotD. Don't know if you followed the Lost Experience online last summer but the information given there actually tells you a lot about what has already been seen on the show and the smoke, in my opinion, is actually the centre of it all.

If you want to start up a Lost debate thread, I'm there. I can debate the details of that show all day. 😉

Though he is a University Professor and I have stated that a university degree means superiority to some Salim defies that perception. He talks to the person not down. I really look forward to his regular Saturday column in the Sun. He does not pull punches or panders to anyone.
I'm glad you took the time to read his articles.
 
Hey, do you ever read Mark Steyn, Titan? He's a Canuck writer, lives in New Hampshire now. Really pretty far right-wing, seems like. He's highly scornful of the current UN, among many other things. He can be really fatalistic, depressing, yet kind of entertaining at times.

I didn't follow the Lost Experience, I began it but life got in the way.
So as to not spoil anything for others, would you please PM me with your theory and why...if you have time and/or feel like it🙂
