So Iv been doing a DS9 rewatch and damn it's still my favourite of the Treks. The Dominion storyline is first class
Dukat is a brilliantly complex villain (until the end)
Garak is fascinating and fun to watch
Worf was also a great addition and Michael Dorn has said his character is better written on this than on TNG
While Cardassians basically fascist space reptiles are interesting to watch.

If I had 2 complaints, while I liked Kira I didn't really care that much about the Bajorans as a whole or there Uniforms which were terrible colours.
Also the whole paath wraith/Prophets stuff was just painful and not needed

Braga still tried to give it the middle finger in the Enterprise finale which I think was due to jealousy.

Anyway the Premier where we withness the battle of Wolf359 and Sisko hostility to Picard due to the death of his wife is such a great introduction
 
This was a popular series - I remember seeing bumper stickers that said "Bajor for Bajorans".

I suspect the uniforms were designed to make them different to the Federation's, and that limited their colours. Maybe they should have all dressed in hot pink?

The Season 3 Garak episode Improbable Cause is one of the best. He is neither plain nor simple and I think he and Odo were more interesting bouncing off each other than him and Bashir

In the Pale Moonlight may be one of his peaks, simply for how he basically planned how it would all unfold. Then you have exchanges such as this:

Garak: I've locked him in his quarters. I've also left him with the distinct impression that, if he attempts to force the door open, it may explode.
Sisko: I hope that's just an impression.
Garak: It's best not to dwell on such minutiae.

He had Sisko number. As he said that's why Sisko came to him because he knew Garak would do things that he couldn't including murder
 
I once saw a podcast where Ira Stephen Behr claimed the unambiguous good guys of the Spanish Civil War were the Republicans. That, to me explains why the Bajorian stories were so boring. You really needed a frame work like the early years of the Union of India, where you do have this ancient caste based theocratic civilization that's had a bad couple of centuries, but it's not entirely clear what the way forward is, and everyone is a bastard, and for every two steps forward, you take one step back. That sounds a lot more interesting than "Who are the collaboraters this week?"

I loved DS9 when it aired, but haven't watched many episodes in reruns because it was the first to have continuing narrative arcs. That rewards steady watching, but is confusing if you're just dipping in for a zode here and there. I liked how they built complexity into every race, as you mention with the Cardassians and Bajorans. Even the Ferengi got some more background.

And the Federation itself was portrayed in a less flattering light. They were no longer the purely good guys they had previously been portrayed as but where willing to do some bad things too, just like the other interstellar polities. Section 31 was the most obvious of these, a branch of the Federation that considered genocide a perfectly acceptable solution.
 
Mrs P was doing a ST😀S9 rewatch via Netflix but they recently pulled all their Star Trek content so she can't complete it. There's a slim possibility she might be able to continue on Sky Sci-Fi but I'm not going to hold my breath 😀 IMO DS9 is up there with the best of Star Trek. There were great characters that evolved nicely over the seasons, the antagonists were top notch, there was room for quite a bit of humour and the story arcs were well played out.

I have a suspicion that "pulled" means "Paramount pulled their content from every streaming platform where it could be watched included ad-free to make Paramount+ more appealing." So many Paramount shows are disappearing from the other streamers to make people get Paramount+. Which, yes, is probably now a good value streamer, but the whole thing really annoys me.

Paramount+ is indeed pretty cheap and it now gives you access to a whole lot of stuff. A whole lot of stuff that was, until recently, already available on other platforms included in the price. This makes the matter rather annoying, having to pay again for stuff I had been already paying for before Paramount got greedy, Soon, the only things available on any streamer will be the things they created themselves, which will then kill most of them off.

I was talking Amazon not Paramount, I've no interest in Paramount plus.
Hell Disney after taking stuff off have started putting stuff back on Amazon/Netflix etc, iv no doubt they will too

Paramount+, here at least, is available as a cheap addon for Prime. Buying DS9 digitally on Amazon is £18.49 per season. Which is not cheap! Honestly, you're better off hunting for second hand DVDs at £1-2 per season, if not cheaper.
 
I don't know how region specific Pluto TV is, but (at least in the US) you can watch it for free there.
