It will probably be something that is done every so often as otherwise there are accounts sitting there unused and inactive, some of which may even have good usernames etc that someone else could be using. Plus it just seems pointless for accounts that have been inactive for so long to just sit there for longer than 6 months. We think this is a reasonable amount of time for an account to have been inactive before it gets deleted. 🙂
I think it is a good thing to do to delete accounts which are not being used, because on the member list in top ten posters there are about 60 pages of members who havent even posted!!!
I created a new account since I diddent like the name of the old one I hope thats ok.
Double Post (next time use the edit button!):
I just read the rules (sorry for not doing that first, and for forgetting them in the first place.) my other account name is labynight, please delete it and not this one.
This isn't something we will do on an ongoing basis, just when a lot of unused accounts build up. We haven't deleted any accounts since the board was started, so there are a lot of old accounts taking up a lot of server space for no real reason 🙂
Mind if I ask a question? I'm just curious... by 'unused' do you mean accounts that haven't been posted with, or ones where the user hasn't signed in for over 6 months? Actually, now that I think about it, I'm assuming both. Besides, is there even a way you could tell if somebody hasn't signed in?
Yes it does. Thank you very much. I was asking because I could've sworn that it was said once before that lurkers with usernames are just as welcome to the boards as anyone who posts. In our profiles it says "last post", and I think the only way of seeing "last activity" is in your PM box. Whatever, at least I'm not confused anymore. Thanks again.
