i went to the dentist this past friday, where i pullet a tooth... he had to give me 3shots with anaesthetics... and man did it hurt.. when he was done, i said"i'm dizzy, i think i'm going to pass out" and my head it felt like cotton, and all the sounds in the room was really far away, and my sight was wierd... and when i felt better(cos my dentist and boyf tok REALLY good care of me!! they where two angels!) i aid that i was really glad that i didn't faint... and when we got out of the building my boyf told me that i had passed out that my eyes rolled back in my head and i was all blue in the face.. he got real scared that i was dead, cos i looked dead..

so have anyone else been to the dentist latly??? and what did you do??? do you like your dentist?

(i ones had a dentist who said i had 20 cavitys in my mouth and she wanted to drill EVERY one.. so my mom tok me to see her cusin who is my current dentist and it turned out that i had 3 cavitys...)

I need to go like soon i was supposed to go tomorrow i got a bad cavity that needs pulled but my grandma cancled just makes me wish i could strangle her.!

Last year I went to the dentist on a normal visit and they told me that my wisdom teeth had become impacted. I'm now afraid to go back because I don't want to have surgery. On and off again they bother me so I know I will have to suck it up and go soon...oohh the thought gives the shivers!

Polexia, what is up with the whacked dentist? I'm glad you are okay and that your new dentist is much more sane!

I was told yesterday that dentists have the highest suicide rate out of all other professions! Interesting...

I just got a new dentist a few months ago and he said that silver fillings are bad for you, so I had to get my cavity redone with clear fillings. The shot was fine, but it was SO cold when he filled it, it felt like torture. For some reason, I was very depressed that whole day.

I like my dentist, I know how you feel Polexia, my dentist can't use the anestetic(sp) shot they use on me anymore, they hafta use the gas, because They gave me it once, and it numbed my whole face for like 3 days, and I got a very upset stomache, couldn't keep anything down, not even water for those 3 days maybe even more, and was completely miserable and such, so they don't give it to me no more. My dentist is usually pretty cool, I've gone to him since I was little, and he's always cracking jokes and stuff. Makes my 2X a year appointment kinda worthwhile. lol! I think my worst experience at the dentist was the one listed above and when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, we had to wait for the busses to pick us up at the school in bus lines, and I happened to be in the front, talking to one of my friends, across in the next line, and I guess people were shoving in the back of the line, but it was pretty much dominoes, I fell face first into the cement, broke my 2 front top teeth in 1/2...not a fun sight, I was spitting blood for a hour or so....*shudders at the memory* anywho, my mom brought me to the dentist she worked for at the time(different than my usual dentist) and he fixed my teeth, but I was only like 8 or so, and couldn't stay still for the hour long appointment it took to get my teeth fixed, and they're a big pain, cuz I can't actually bite into anything remotely hard in the front anymore, it sux.

Chasity: my dentist now is a saint(he really is the best dentist ever, cos he acually cares about his patiants(bad spelling😉))
my old one, she was wacked! she was my best friends dentst too, and drilled cavitys that didn't need to be fixed and now she has pobs with them.. i hate that woman...
i went to a different dentist last fall.. and he told me that the tooth next to the one i was haveing a root canal in was also ill, so he started the root canal in the tooth he was fixing.. and then the next time i came.. 8:30am and he was going to continue te root canal.. but this time.. no shots for me.. so i told him that the drilling hurt(cos when they drill in your muth, water spurts all over the place) and he said that he would not give me anaesthics cos then he would have to give me it in ALL of my mouth just to drill this one dead tooth... and then he didn't wanna drill any more, acos he understood that i was sick(this was in oct 2002, i had mono in july2002)...

well i NEVER went to that ******* again!

Trust no1: wow, i'm sorry about your front teeth! that does sux! when i was like 8 too(LOL) i had this acsident in the school pool in gym class, i shot my self up from the water, and when i did, i hit the latter(the one you get out of the water with) with my theeth, and now i have this line across my right front tooth! but it never broke.. but i am always afraid it will! so i really feel for you!!!! *knock on wood*

Now that i have the nice dentist.. i acually like going to the dentist, the anaesthetics are the worst part, when i've got that over with, it's just to lay back and relax and just listen to the radio he's got on, and my boyf and my dentist talking! but i don't like pulling teeth!(goodluck chasity!!!)

i'm ttaly in a face where i' fixing all of my teeth.. i've been doing that for the last year! since sept i've been going every other friday! i'm glad to get it all fixed, so that i won't have anypain in my mouth any more!

I went to the dentists this Monday - hate to admit it but I hadn't been for about 4 years - it's so hard in the area I live to find a dentist willing to take on NHS patients, especially those who are exempt from payment. There was only 1 dentist that was actually taking people on at the moment and as I had a tooth that was driving me scatty I plucked up the courage to make an appointment and go. Turns out that the tooth giving me the pain was one that already had a filling but it had decayed even more underneath as I had chipped the filling. Just expecting a check up Monday, the dentist decided to get rid of all the decay and put in a temporary filling - then he said that I would need a root canal - which will take over an hour - but until then the temporary filling will relieve most of the pain and should be more comfortable. I'm still taking pain killers as he had to take the nerve out and pack it with medication before putting in the temporary filling, and although the procedure was painless, it now hurts like hell! Plus due to the medication everything tastes antiseptic.

I hate dentists due to a bad experience as a child. My old dentist tried to freeze my gum, which in itself took 6 attempts, and during one of those attempts the needle snapped in half, leaving half in my gum!! Needless to say it traumatised me and ever since I have been terrified of going to the dentist!

I'm trying to set a good example now though because of my kids and I am relieved to say that my new dentist, Mr Chauan, is brilliant. It is a very small practice basically there is just him and an assistant and his wife works on reception but the care that I got was great - they even got someone to phone me on Monday evening to make sure that I was ok - no dentist has ever done that before! I have got to have more work other than my root canal, including an extraction and a couple of small fillings and then just a scale & polish. I have impacted wisdom teeth but at the moment the dentist is willing to leave them and he said that if they gave me a lot of problems then he would look again at removing them *phew!*. They also grow at a funny angle under the gum - they actually are pushing against the tooth next to them - hence why I need an extraction as it has caused one of my back teeth to decay.🙁

Other than that I was actually relieved that there wasn't more to be done after 4 years.

It's funny because I was actually going to post a thread myself about dentists; see if anyone else had been recently or had a similar fear to myself and I was pipped to the post! lol'

This happened a few years ago, but before I could have my brace put on I needed 4 teeth out. So I went to the dentist and he said I could have 2 out this time then book another appointment and have the other 2 out or have all 4 out at once. I was stupid and said I'd have all 4 out at once. I had 8 needles, 4 in the top and 4 in the bottom. They took the big teeth out at the back, 2 from the top on either side and 2 from the bottom on either side. I was in so much pain when the anaesthetic wore off.

Funny enough I'd don't mind going to the dentist.

ooh, braces, I hated those years too...I never had too many bad experiences, I was just in them for ever, they had to widen my jaw so all my teeth would fit(bonus is, I will be able to keep my wisdom teeth unless they become impacted *does happy dance*) But I remember one time, they had to do an impression of my teeth for some kinda retainer, and the chair was broken a day or so ago, so it only layed down...they put the stuff in and I always gagged on it, but they did the top one first since that was my trouble area, and the stuff they do the impressions with(because I was laying down) ran down my throat and made me gag more, I think I actually threw up, don't remember exactly, but I remember the gagging part. Other than that, My Orthodontist was pretty cool too.

I pretty much am believing now that everyone has dentist horror stories

cordelia: i feel iwith you! root canals do take along time...i'm glad your dentist is nice thouh, cos it makes it much better!

jules:wow.. i only pulled one, and when the anaesthetics wore off i was so out of it, i got a fever(a light one!) and i felt so blæ(blah) and my mouth hurt.. it hurt from then to yesterday, now it's all better, but for the last 4days i've had a monster headach!

i'm glad i didn't have to pull 4.. 🙁 for jules and cordelia

trustno1: man that sounds awful!!

when i went to the dentist they said i needed braces and i got all excited until he said i have to have a surgery to take this thing i have between the gap in my tooth, that was about 3 years ago and i still dont have braces or the surgery which sucks cause i really want braces but for some reason my parents are mean and dont want me to have them!!! i really need them too and my mean parents wont spring for them

well i go to the dentist like everty 6 monthes or so. i've had one cavitiy and i had to have it drilled but it didn't really hurt at all. I do have to have my wisdom teeth out though, and i'm really scared about it beause it's supposed to hurt alot. I've only got one though, so maybe it won't be that bad.....

rene: i wish for you some braces!

Willow03: as long as you are given anasthetics, it prob will be okay!!! it's not that bad the first time you pull a tooth! cos then you don't really know what tp expect! it's the worse the second time cos then you really now what it's all about! a good tip: listen to music! have a head set on! and play some tunes for yourself! it makes it better!

I got the dentist next month, not looking forward to it. Th dentist is a nasty place.

lol, that sux, especially after hearing horror stories...*dead pans* wait a sec, I have one Dec 1...something!!!!!!!!!(in the teens)

I go to the dentist once each half year, he tells me to brush my teeth better, then does it for me. Then I don't do it for 6 months untill the day I go to see him again. And guess what, my teeth are superstrong, they can stand nearly anything. Even with me never brushing them (unless on the night of a date) I don't have any holes. Also, my wisdom teeth are coming through, and presumably I can keep them.

I don't mind going to the dentist or nething because she usually says ''yeah your teeth are fine come back in blah!''

Oh and my dentist has the same surname as me, but she's nice.

I had to have an injection once but i was just not really bothered and nothing happened.

Poor you looking like you were dead and all 🙁
