Just heard on some rubbish morning tv show that Johnny Depp has been approached to play the lead role in a re-make of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Directed by the loopy Tim Burton.

How cool would this be, I loved Rohld Dahl books when I was a kid and the film was great. With all the new effects and Depp as Mr Wonka this would truly be awesome. If anyone can confirm these rumours please do.
 
hahahah....he pulled off crack head captain jack...he could pull of mr wonka... i think he's the only guy who could do it because wonkas character isn't a comedic role...its a dramatic role...meaning all comedians are out...except for jim carrey...but he's too dirty to play wonka...

but the movie is so not needed...the movie doesn't need to be remade cause its so damn good...
 
I have to agree that it would be really hard to make it as good as the first. It's a classic in itself but any excuse to see johnny is good. If he doesn't do it they should get Marlyn Manson to do it!LOL! And Mini Me can be the head Umpa Lumpa!!!
 
lol...marilyn manson...all the umpa loompas would be in bondage...or either in ass-less pants...
 
Hahaha! Hey, ya gotta change with the times! And it IS Tim Burton...Edward Scisorhands...that was borderlining on bondage...Willy Wonka and the Gimp Factory...

I think the movie could be good, bring it to a new generation. Agreed the movie was a classic, but i'd like to see a new take on it, and Johnny does have a knack for playing the eccentric characters.
 
I love Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and I must admit I heard they were doing a remake and I become very concerned.......I don't want them to destory the movie but now I have heard this rumour I'm looking forward to it. If anyone could do it, it would be Johnny Depp!
 
I can't wait to see the re-make...I think Johnny Depp would do such a good job at being a crazy Mr. Wonka. Of course it would be wierd seeing him without his deep dark hair color, I wonder what they would dye it?
 
I love Tim Burton, and him remaking Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would be more than beautiful. I hope this is true. Plus if Johnny Depp is in it... all I have to say about that is mmmmmmmm.
 
That would be mad i love Charley and the chocolate factory,i made a diarama on Charley and the chocolate factory with real chocolate and everyone was eating it.lol.
