Devil Comet

First I've heard of it. Maybe there will be more when it's the closest to the Earth in June. Right now, it's all about the eclipse, which won't be very visible here.

If you're watching for the eclipse, you might still see it.

“A really interesting opportunity for a fleeting glance of the comet will come during the total solar eclipse in [North America] on April 9 – for those who are watching the eclipse, and who get to see totality, they should be able to pick the comet up near Jupiter in the sky whilst watching the eclipse. The comet will be between Jupiter and the Sun in the sky - but closer to Jupiter than it is to the Sun!

“April 10 could be a great photo opportunity for those trying to get a glamour shot of the comet – as on that evening, it will be located quite close to the very thin crescent moon, and also near Jupiter – shining bright in the low western sky"

I rekon its so fun to see these things 😀 I keep wanting to get into proper star gazing but I end up being star mesmerized. Nebulous is such a great way to describe myself haha

I likely will take a look. I still have my cheap, but effective, solstice glasses from a few years ago. Even if I just see a little bite out if the sun, that's still pretty cool!

I also find these things so wondrous. Even if all you see is the partial eclipse or a fuzzy blob for a comet, it makes you feel small, but in a connected-to-the-universe way. Like seeing the ocean in a way, you feel like part of a greater whole.
 
Astronomers suggest you look for the comet just after sunset, as it will be visible close to the western horizon near Jupiter.

Although the advice varies depending on your location around Australia, about 60 minutes after sunset is the comet-viewing sweet spot, when it's dark enough to see the stars, and 12P/Pons-Brooks itself isn't too low on the horizon.

It does seem to be stirring up some devilish behaviour on earth.
 
The news today said it was about to reach its perihelion, when the sun's light will block the ability to see it. The photos were good, looked like a backward Millenium Falcon!
