Who watches Dexter? I love the show and was sooo looking forward to the new season starting. Seems to take way too long of a break.

Anyways, I thought the first ep was a great opener to the season. Seeing the aftermath of Rita's murder and how each person coped with it, was really cool. Deb was fantastic as usual - she always makes me cry 🙁 - and the flashbacks to Dexter and Rita's first meeting were so sweet.

Also, the fact we got to have a scene where Dexter tells Rita he's actually a serial killer was really cool. Too bad she couldn't hear it haha.

As you know I don't love the show as much as you but I didn't hesitate to continue watching this season. I'm torn about the first episode. I agree that it was good to see the aftermath and the first time Dexter and Rita met. But at the same time it felt too slow. I guess it's easy when you're not loving a show. Looking forward to the next episode all the same. Had been kind of intresting if the season had been about Dexter on the run (so to speak).😀

I loooove Dexter, its one of my favourite shows, Im still gutted they killed Rita off though!

How much didnt you cringe though when he was telling the kids there mum was dead with Mickey Mouse ears on lol

I couldn't resist my Dexter obsession has taken over me! I had to come in here and see the spoilers. I can't wait to see this episode.
Darn I need to get showtime now.

And so the kids are gone. Big shocker. 😉 So far the most interesting question is what will happen to Quinn before the end of the season. It won't happen but I guess I'm one of the few that want to see Dexter end up in jail/being killed. If it happens it's not like it will until the very end. I do like my lost causes...

It seemed a bit obvious the kids would leave, but that Harrison would stay. Since Dexter and Harrison have a blood connection, excuse the pun. 😛 I liked the newest ep, even if it was quite slow at times, it had some really great scenes. Sad and funny ones. The funny being Deb and Quinn, they're a hoot. I don't know if I want anything more to happen between them, although I'm guessing it won't now since it looks like Quinn is going to go after Dexter. Sidenote - how much slimmer does Desmond Harrington look these days? He used to be all beefed up and now he's all wee.

I kept thinking that he had way too big shirts all episode long. Maybe that's just my imagination though since they should adapt his clothes to him no matter what size he is. But he sure looks thinner.

Was disappointed that Boyd never got closer to get Dexter into trouble himself but with that ending I guess I can forgive that. Hope it isn't is solved as easy as she's dying from all she's experienced and the problem solves itself.

I'm really getting into this season even though the story has kinda slowed down. Loved the last ep with Masuka explaining how the 2 guys died, he's amazing.

Lumen was a bit annoying in it, but I grew to like her more by the end.

I like Julia Stiles so maybe my feelings towards Lumen might be a bit biased. She seems to improving though. So glad it turned out to be the right guy this time. Had been boring if it was the wrong one again. Her and Dexter teaming up to try and catch the rest feel interesting. Hope it turns out as good as I hope.

I like Dexters moments with Harrison, especially when he tries to be funny/cute. Can't help but wonder what the fans that like the show because of the blood and killings think of that. I know some of them wasn't happy about his family life and that they were happy when Rita died.

Anyone feel like the Quinn Story is Doakes 2.0 (only that it's not an improvement)? And depending on what happens with Lumen, she might be a Lilah redux as well.
And is anyone else getting tired of Deb getting a new love interest every season, which always ends tragically and how conveniently most of them are Dexter's sworn enemy (The Icetruck Killer, Lundy and now Quinn)?

That being said, the last episode was easily this season's best. I thought maybe Lumen was actually hiding something from Dexter - she just seemed a little too annoying and naive.

Anyone know how much the series got in common with the books? Is there any similarities left or are they making up their own stories now?

Seeing Quinn as Doakes 2.0 is easy. I'm mostly interested in how Quinn will die. Or will he actually survive?

From Wikipedia:

Set in Miami, the show's first season was largely based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the first of his series of Dexter novels. Subsequent seasons have evolved independently of Lindsay's works.

I watch Dexter via NetFlix, so I'm not watching S-5 yet. However, reading spoilers & whatnot, I have to say, I'm not happy they're making Quinn into a "Doakes" at all. I like Quinn. I'd much rather see Deb & Quinn have a firesome relationship, that leads to Deb finding out about Dexter's ....uh... habits 😉 and then maybe having her be protective of Dexter because he's her brother. Or whatever. But the Doakes thing has been done. Get on with it.

Wasn't expecting to see Astor back just yet but I'm glad we did. Of course she's going to have a reaction to all what happened to her. Glad they didn't just skip that. It was nice to see Dexter going all protective for Olivia as well.

It feels too obvious that Dexter and Luman will get together so I don't think that'll happen. But I got to say, from what we've seen so far I'm not against it. I wonder what'll happen to her by the end of the season. Die, leave after being done with the revenge or stay and if so in what way. Going to jail and not giving up Dexter? I guess not.

Even if Quinn drops everything about Dexter it's not like it's going to go away. Will the twist be that he in the end "save" Dexter one way or another? Too many thoughts right now.
