Dexter (show is ending)

I watched it since I'm a big fan of the show. It wasn't the kind of last season or episode I wanted but it I still liked it. The last episode had a few really good scenes

I loved the series. It was really a great story. Some seasons were worse than others but overall it was awesome.

The last ep left me feeling a little let down, but I think it was a pretty logical ending for him. I felt the last season was the most predictable of the lot but I did still like it.

1, 4 and 6 were my favourites. Im still thinking about it all days later.

Those are my favourite seasons too 🙂

I kinda feel like Dexter hasn't been really good since season 6. Season 7 was pretty whatever, only saved for me by the appearance of Jim Beaver as Hannah's dad. And the whole story line with Deb being in love with Dexter?! I know they aren't actually brother and sister but seriously, ick! I'm glad nothing ever really came of that.

I wish they had incorporated more from the books. I use to think of the books and the show as totally separate and equally awesome, but over the past few seasons that has definitely changed for me.

I do admit that I didn't really pay that much attention to season 8. I missed a few episodes and the ones I did watch I was only really half paying attention. So I will reserve my finale judgement until I have watched it all properly.

I did sit down and watch the last episode, and I have to say I didn't really like it. I dunno, I guess it was a fitting enough ending, and maybe I will feel differently when I watch the whole season, but it left me feeling pretty cold.

I love Dexter and it felt like they really half assed the ending. I was so excited to see how it was all going to end, and watching that finale scene, my reaction was "Huh....okay, I suppose". Deb dying was really sad though 🙁

agreed the ending was like ... and deb :(
My favorites are 1,2 and 4/5

I binged the 8th season in one day after previously re-watching the series/catching up and I was seriously let down. The finale had good scenes mainly the ones between dexter and deb but overall the last 2 seasons kind of ruined an epic show to me. The first 4 seasons were pretty amazing though and if I judge by the early work of the show it was almost always A+.

Side-note I am watching the final season of breaking bad and that is blowing everything out of the water so dexter did have a lot to live up to.

100% agreed. And I'm also watching the finale season of Breaking Bad, its hard for anything to live up to that :)
I really didn't enjoy the ending... I didn't buy Dexter killing Deb, and I really don't think he'd have left Harrison with Hannah, when he could have been sent to live with his grandparents. I think I would have preferred him to actually die, there's no way Dexter's gonna live out the rest of his life as a lumberjack.

If it was a regular series ending I would have liked it, but as an end to an entire show, I was pretty disappointed.

the fact that he left his child with hannah ruined it for me
I thought it was pretty good considering how much they'd written him into a corner this season. The season itself was a bit all over the place, but I enjoyed the last episode - it made me cry. 🙁 I thought Deb's death, with Dexter's hand, was quite poetic. You really felt the connection between those two characters. Dammit though, Deb had a tough life haha

I cried too Bluebird. I cried more when I thought he had killed himself cos I thought it was such a waste, so I was actually a little relieved that he didnt suicide, but I still would have preferred for him to live happily ever after with Hannah and Harrison.

I really liked Hannah, and I wish they had ended up together. I hated the Deb loving Dexter storyline, it just about put me off the whole show. I thought Deb would die at the end, so I wasnt surprised but I was still sad.

ItMustBeBunnies I found it only kept half my attention this season too, I had to keep reminding myself to watch it when usually I would have been dying for the new ep. I think it was time for it to wrap up.

I imagine Dexter in a much darker place now.

It would defiantly be hard to end that show and please a fraction of the audience.

So many people wanted different things.. Dexter getting away happy. Dexter getting arrested. Dead, etc..

The more I thought about it, the more I liked it.. Dexter lives on but he doesn't deserve to be happy. The majority of loose ends were tied up. I enjoyed it.
