Anyone seen Dexter yet? Apparently Julie Benz is in it, and Drew Z Greenberg has written some eps. It's received great reviews.

SHOWTIMES DEXTER TAKES A STAB AT SEASON TWO

Acclaimed One-Hour Drama Series Starring Michael C. Hall Sets Production for Spring; Fall Premiere

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 2, 2006) SHOWTIME has ordered a second season of its freshman drama DEXTER, starring Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under), it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt, Showtime President of Entertainment. DEXTER premiered last month to widespread critical acclaim and ranks as SHOWTIMES top-rated series. Production is set to begin on 12 new episodes next spring and will premiere on SHOWTIME later in 2007. The series follows Dexter Morgan (Hall), an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer.

DEXTER has been one of the most talked about and critically lauded new series of the year. Said New York Magazine in its review last month: horrifying, intoxicating, seductive and thrilling, all at the same time. The Boston Globes Matthew Gilbert proclaimed, This fiendishly excellent new Showtime series turns blood splatter into a pop art form, like Jackson Pollock meets Annie Leibovitz. Additionally, Time and People magazines both named DEXTER one of the best new series of the fall season.

Dexter is a home run for us, both critically and in popularity. The show was launched at the height of all the broadcast networks fall premieres yet instantly became our #1 rated show, Greenblatt said. People seem fascinated by the moral ambiguity of Dexter, as played by the gifted Michael C. Hall. This character and the world of this show are a welcome addition to our premium line-up. Along with Hall, the series stars Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Lauren Velez (New York Undercover), Julie Benz (Jawbreaker), Erik King (National Treasure), David Zayas (The Interpreter) and James Remar (Sex and the City). The series premiered in October 2006 and will air its season finale on Sunday, December 17th. John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton (Live from Baghdad, The Painted Veil), and Clyde Phillips serve as executive producers for the series. James Manos, Jr. developed the series for television (Emmy Award for writing "The Sopranos").

DEXTER is based on the compelling novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, a South Florida native. Orphaned at the age of four and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognizes Dexters homicidal tendencies and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators who are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice. A respected member of the police force, a perfect gentleman and a man with a soft spot for children, it's hard not to like Dexter. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate normal emotions he doesn't feel, and to keep up his appearance as a caring, socially responsible human being.

Well from our discussions over at AD you know i'm loving it.

I had not heard of it until I saw an ad on The Futon Critic and read up on it. Basically if there ever was a tv show out there made for me to watch its Dexter.

The fact that half of my book collection is made up of Forensics, True Crime and Criminology texts books speaks for itself.

Technically we are not meant to feel for Dex because he's a killer but the way its done with his father protecting him and showing him how to hide himself its superbly done.

I'm fascinated by the relationship he has with Julie's character, she does bring out a tiny part of his humanity side, I say tiny because he said himself he does not feel anything.

I really have to get the book!

I
I love Eliza Dushku
I totally agree.

Do you have a different name at AD?
I *love* Dexter. I've only seen the pilot so far, but it's very fascinating. Sick, but fascinating. Definitely worth someone's time, and I'm thrilled it's been picked up for a second season already.

I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Is Julie Benz playing a main character?

I
I love Eliza Dushku
Yes, she is Dexter's girlfriend. She has been in every episode , I believe.
I've finally seen my first episode of Dexter, and Holy macaroni, that is...well, I don't know what exactly that is, but I know I've gotta see another one.

I posted a few weeks back on here when it aired if anyone had seen this show yet, and no-one replied at the time 'lol' It' a really great show though, and I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far.

I'm getting addicted to it after two eps. I take back every nasty thing I ever said about Drew Z Greenberg. Here's a short bit on Julie's participation.

Benz maintains her dark side with 'Dexter'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actress Julie Benz is furthering her connection to the dark side of entertainment with the new U.S. TV series, "Dexter."

The 34-year-old actress -- who played an evil vampire on both "Buffy" and its spin-off series "Angel" -- is taking on the role of the abused girlfriend of
a serial killer
in the new Showtime original series "Dexter," said Us Weekly magazine.

The new series, which premiered on the cable network Oct. 1, focuses on a forensics expert who spends his nights apart from his girlfriend, played by Benz, killing other serial killers.

"Rita is a victim of domestic violence," Benz said of her newest role. "Prior to dating Dexter, she was in a 10-year relationship with her very abusive, crack addict ex-husband, and they have two small children from that marriage."

Us Weekly said Benz confessed that while her TV career has followed a sinister theme, she never actively pursues such roles -- she just finds herself presented with them after her tenure with "Buffy" and "Angel."

If you're american you may be able to download them from Showtime's website. I don't know. I'm not American. They won't let me in.

So did you see where Julie Benz is nominated for a Satellite award from the International Press Academy. First of many nominations this year, I bet.

dam.. i wish it was here in australia.. like thats gonna happen any time soon! x
I didn't realise the season is only 12 episodes. The pacing makes sense now. Is that because its a new show or will subsequent seasons only be 12 episodes too?

It isn't up yet. It usually doesn't go up at TVLinks until Tuesday.

Just one question without being spoiled. Is there a stupid, stinky, cliff-hanger? I so want this Ice Truck Killer thing to be resolved.

Tv links is like the middle man, just ignore him and go straight to the dailymotion dealer.

Ya know...I did that, but when I typed in "Dexter 1X12" they gave me a no-results page. How'd you do that? What did you use for a search query? I'm trying to figure out the best way to search those things.

I link to TVLinks for other people, because the page is all organized.

Oh but btw, thanks.

The search option on Dailymotion is pretty odd. I just have the girl that uploads the Dexter videos main page as one of my favourites. So I just click on that and see if a new one's been uploaded. I do the same with another member who uploads House.
