I love Dexter. It is the one show currently being made that I know I will take the time to watch. Everything else, if I'm screwing about on the net maybe I'll watch something. With Dexter I'm eagerly waiting for new episodes.
Also, it is the only show that I'm into, that I think about during day to day life. Could be just walking down the steet, eating lunch, working, whatever, it pops into my head and I think about certain aspects of it. Usually, if I was making the show, in which direction would I take it, etc. Or occasionally, wouldn't it be so great to be 'Dexter'.. where would I dispose of the bodies though..
Anyway.. Loved season 1. Really enjoyed season 2, particularly lots of the other characters getting a little more screen time. Didn't love the Dexter character so much in season 2. I think they made him a bit more human. I think they tried to make him less pure liquid evil and more understandable, messed up, kinda victim. And in a disturbing way, making his actions less evil urges and more taking a bad situation and doing the best with it.
I'm really not explaining this too well, I just know that season 2 involved a certain humanising of Dexter that I loathed. I really liked the awkward Dex of season 1 that just didn't get the softer side of humanity at all. The Dexter that was empty, that used his penis solely to pee with, and that faked all human interaction. Season 2 hollywooded him up, suddenly he likes to put 'it' about, he's a stud in bed as all men are that have never properly had sex before, and he wants to get high. Smoke a bit of weed, see the stars through the roof. I really disliked Dexter at times in saison deux.
And, having seen the first episode in season 3, I'm really worried that they're going to cnut this show right up. God, I really hope they don't. Dexter has so much potential to reach so many levels of awesome. I really think, as good as it has been, that they've only scratched the surface so far. It can be so much better. Here's hoping.
