Doppelgang
Always Believe
I've started a thread on here that has led me to a negative portrayal of season 7, but it's really only one small blip in one episode, and I wanted to give a more positive perspective on season 7 here.
There is so much going on in season 7, so many storylines developing in different directions, so many new characters emerging that it is difficult to get an overal feel for it at times, so I thought I'd try to gather here reflections on some of the good things that emerge out of it all, sometimes unexpectedly.
First one for me was Dawn in the episode Potential. I went in to that episode thinking it would be all about the potentials, but it turned out to surprise me and be more about Dawns perspective on things as someone not lucky enough to be chosen, and how she copes with her growing awareness of this.
Secondly, another surprise for me was the storyline between Willow and Kennedy in the killer in me, yes the relationship was developed a bit quick, but they used it very well to illustrate Willow's difficulties in letting go and getting over Tara in order to be able to move on to a new relationship, and the ending scene at the place where Warren had shot Tara was quite emotional and reminiscent of the episode in season 2, I only have eyes for you.
Thirdly, the dialogue between Anya and Spike at the beginning of Get it done, with Anya making loads of sexual innuendos and Spike deflecting them and forcing her to an awareness of that she keeps doing it almost compulsively was really good. e.g.
ANYA: Good. (shrugs) Of course, once you're down there, I could join you. Kidding. I like my sex on top of the table.
SPIKE: (looks up to the sky) Would you let it go? You're like a dog with a bone!
ANYA: So what?
SPIKE: It's my bone. Just drop it.
ANYA: OK. OK. I wasn't proposing. Time goes by, girl gets hungry. You should know.
SPIKE: (rolls his eyes) Oh, thank God.
ANYA: What?
SPIKE: Demon.
just really funny dialogue, I'd forgotten all about that from when I last watched through.
I'm sure there's loads more of these types of thing in season 7, can anyone else think of moments/episodes/storylines in season 7 that have surprised them as being really good when they wasn't expecting it?
