I'm just wondering did Angelus ever encounter a Slayer when he was in Europe or was Buffy the first one he faced?

Wasn't he there when Spike fought that one during the Boxer Rebellion? My memory for such things is rubbish 🙁

Yeah, but he was technically Angel at that point since he had his soul. Besides, I was more curious about if he ever fought one or anything?

see I told you I was rubbish :)
Well, from what I've seen and read he never encounters one pre-Buffy. I'm not caught up on the comics yet, but I've seen all of Buffy, all of Angel and read After the Fall, and he never mentions meeting one before Buffy.

To tell you the truth, I don't think he'd want to. Angelus wasn't like Spike. He could fight when he had to, sure, and we saw that he was damn good at it, but for him it was never about the thrill of battle or the challenge of it all. He was a pretty sadistic guy, and they always showed that he heavily targeted his victims. He tortured and tormented them. He was cunning in a sick and twisted sort of way, but he never really showed any inclination to fight if he didn't have to, unlike Spike. So I think he would have steered clear of any Slayers that might have crossed his path.

Right. Angel preferred what he referred to as "good kills, quiet kills" that involved inflicting fear and pain on his victims, probably while Darla watched and cheered him on. He was sadistic and cruel, but never one to take the least risk to himself if it could be at all avoided. The only time that we ever saw Angelus actually show anything resembling actual bravery was when the Immortal's people had him and Spike tied up in that barn in "The Girl In Question," and that could have been seen as more the reaction of a cornered rat than anything else. He was caught, quite literally, with his pants down, tied up, and had no other option than to try and fight. Even afterward, when "Blood Vengeance" tried to crash the Immortal's party, he allowed himself to be turned away, with no more than verbal protest, by the doorman. Hardly the actions of a real fighter.

I don't recall it ever being mentioned that he did, I think Angelus was too smart for that, he liked to torture and play with his food lol He tended to kill innocent fragile people who couldn't or wouldn't put up a fight, he didn't really care for the slayers.

I don't think Angelus ever faced a Slayer. It was never mentioned that he had, and when Spike killed the one in The Boxer Rebellion, a)Angelus never met her; he only heard Spike talking about killing her, and b) he wasn't Angelus then; he was Angel. 😉

I think the previous posts are correct, angelus didn't revel in battle the way spike did, in fact didnt he chastise spike for his overtly vampiric behaviour by warning him that he would attract the attention of a slayer if he wasn't careful, suggesting angels made a conscious effort to avoid slayers
