Did anybody stop being a Spuffy fan for couple episodes?

When Spike tried to attempt rape on Buffy in Seeing Red did anybody for couple episodes until Season 7 stop being a Spuffy fan? I didnt start being a Spuffy fan again until Season 7 Episode Touched imo

*sigh* Spike did a bad, bad thing. He was love-mad, and what he did was inexcusable. That is one of the hardest scenes to watch of anything I've ever seen. Buffy is so helpless. But Spike does redeem himself, he is genuinely sorry, and he goes to the ends of the earth (literally) to purge the demon-ness out of himself, then sacrifices himself for the good of the world. So I wouldn't say I stop being a Spuffy, I just understand that as part of the depth and complexity of his character.

I didn't even start being a Spuffy before S7. Retroactively, though, I never feel the need to stop shipping them at any point. With Spuffy, it's all about the journey, and I think it's awesome that the darker parts of this journey were handled with such gritty realism.

And I agree with [MENTION=11641]EvilWillow[/MENTION] on both accounts of her last sentence, but I won't touch said other thread anymore. I said anything about this I needed to say in previous ones, and getting back into that discussion isn't too good for my blood pressure. 😉

I don't know if I stopped being a Spuffy fan, but I definitely questioned whether I could like them as a couple again. But as I watched season 7, I rediscovered my love for Spuffy because they were in many ways a different couple after season 6. Similar to how Buffy began to trust and love Spike again because he was a different person. I think the episode that really made me love them and root for them again was at the end of "Showtime."

I was never a Spuffy fan, but I liked their story a lot in season 6. It's one of the reasons season 6 is in my top 3 seasons, but I lost all interest in them when he tried to rape Buffy.

Though I think that's mostly because I didn't like their story in season 7. When I think of Spike in season 7 my mind goes right to him being tied to a chair or chained to a wall for a number of episodes. Boring :/

My fave Spuffy scene was in season 5 when Spike got beating up and Buffy kissed him while acting as the Buffy-Bot 😛

No, I've always believed in S/B. Even in Season 6. So, they had a dark time. They got through it.

Ok I'm not a Spuffy fan or any kind of shipper really, at least not on Btvs but for me, it was just about redefining the relationship. I've always argued that because of the profound psychological differences between vampires without souls and humans and vampires with soul, it's difficult to judge them in the same way. Spike's psychological disposition was always under question when he had the chip.

As I've always said, how a relationhip begins doesn't necessarily determine how it ends up.

I don't think Spike really tried to rape her....I mean in their very first sex scene it was so insanely violent they literally brought down a house. Quite honestly, I don't think Spike had a way of really telling he was raping her, besides, whenever Buffy was feeling down and she wanted to sleep with him, she could throw him against all the walls she wanted and seduce him and that was totally okay. She played up the whole girl thing way too much, she wasn't really a victim. I also hate when people say Spike's a terrible person for making her feel bad by sleeping with her. She was using HIM, and he was evil! What's her excuse?

I didn't stop being a fan of Spuffy when I saw that episode. For me, season 6 was so touch and go. Personally think Spuffy relationship is more grown up and fairly more realistic. I could never really get into Bangel...because it was so unrealistic...and sort of juvenile...IMO. However, it was a sad dark moment for Spuffy. Luckily Spike redeems himself time and time again. Even in season 9 he does. I think i am even more of a Spuffy fan than I used to be before reading season 8 and 9.

Without getting into a heated debate, all I'll simply say that if I truly thought Spike had come there that night to rape Buffy, (and most importantly, if he'd had no qualms with the notion of doing so), I wouldn't have been a Spuffy then and I wouldn't be a Spuffy now. Regardless of what eventually happened.
The intent depicted so clearly, (IMO), is the reason why I didn't abandon hope for the relationship. They were both a mess in season 6, no doubt. They acted selfishly, used each other, and took each other for granted at different times. But had I taken away the message that either one of them truly intended to hurt the other, again, I don't think I'd have shipped them.

Well what he did in Seeing Red was inexcusable, but you have to think about it. At that time he had no soul so I think the fact that he feels remorse which is normally not possible for a soulless vamp and gets his soul back willingly completely redeems himself.
