I think it was Giles who said that The First can only take on the shape of someone who is dead- which is fine because it's been Drusilla, Spike, Cassie etc.

Except, The First has also taken on the shape of Buffy.

Buffy drowned in S1, Buffy fell to her death in S5.
 
Although Willow brought her back to life, technically Buffy's dead. so, are Spike and Dru. The real question is , could one of the scoobie had died off screen , that we wasn't made award of?

She's alive! Maybe not the form of somebody who is dead, but somebody who has died, which can be something completly different!
